In England they give you money for all sorts of things if you're on disability. I'm not surprised he has enough money to eat that much.

i just know that we are two (and a half) people right now, and we can afford take-out twice a week...

eat for dinner, then finish for lunch... that's 4 meals for the price of two. and that's it... we can't afford anything more than that right now...

i will never understand this dilemma... unless the "enablers" are also the financiers, which might be the case?

Word? That much $$?

Not that I can work out.  Disability isn't really that generous, although housing can also be paid for depending on circumstances.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

well let's just say I was shocked by some of the things people can get "benefits" for over there. I was like what??

Really?  What kind of amount per week?  I know disability is less than 100 per week, of course with housing benefit but even so...that's not a lot really.  I certainly wouldn't like to live on it and there is no way one could afford take out for every meal.

Right, so housing benefit means he doesn't have to use his (less than) 100 per week on housing, but he still has to pay utilities.

not really the amount of money people get, it's more the things people can get benefits for.

Right.

i can't speak for the British system, but whenever i see extreme cases of obesity in the US, where the person clearly cannot get out of bed or move for that matter, i can't fathom how they afford it. Even IF you are getting disability or on welfare, it's still not that much... you gotta think they are spending nearly a $100 per day on food costs.

not really the amount of money people get, it's more the things people can get benefits for.

Oh, i see what you are saying...

I agree though. I don't know how it is affordable. Being fat is affordable, but eating that much is just like, well, I don't get it.
