Ok, I'm not sure what to do.....

After purchasing the Xpress envelope I realized she gave me a 12"X15" (390mm X 295mm).

But it's supposed to be 314mm X 394mm.

When I went back to the Post Office, they said the one I got is the biggest they have.

What should I do? How critical is the couple mm's off? Last thing I want is the embassy to have an issue with my friggan envelope!!

Yeah, you'll need to get the bigger one. It does exist and it is quite a bit bigger.

This is the one I got and she took out a ruler and measured it. it is 12x15 which is what they ask for on P4. It's huge and it is the biggest one they have. I don't think a difference of 15 millimeters is going to make much difference.

On top of that, the one they ask for doesn't exist anymore. It's much bigger than letter size Sapphire, I thinkt hat's what you thought.

Well it looks like we'll be asking for them to delay issuing his K1 Visa. Sean says he is not ready to move down here at Christmas. He says it is too soon after the end of school and he will feel "rushed." He says he wants to come and stay with me for a few weeks, then go back to Canada, and then come activate the Visa in February. This is so we could get married on April 29th and so that he can "feel ready" to move down here.

This just irritates me because he has told me all along he just wants to be with me and he insists he is ready, but now that we are so close to reality I guess he is getting cold feet. I understand how he feels, and I know he might change his mind some more over the next few weeks.

So in silent protest, I am not paying for his flights. If he really wants to do it this way he can pay for it himself.

I wouldn't be TOO upset about it. It might not have anything to do with "cold feet"...but the fact that he's about to make a massive move, literally & figurativly. I understand how you feel(to a certain degree). I can't wait to move over & start a new chapter in my life with my man!! But like Sean & a few others on here, I'm waiting until after Christmas cause I want to spend as much time as I can with family & friends.

I know you probably are, but try to see it in his shoes. Cause you know when the day comes that he moves to be with you....that's it! Together forever

Yeah that's the one I'm thinking of.

Mine had the dimension in millimetres right by the barcode... it must still print the dimensions in mm.. unless they changed it... it's printed pretty small...

I got the wrong one as well I think (390 x 295). She said these aren't for documents so I might go back and exchange it. This one isn;t the cardboard material...It is flimsy with bubble wrap Xpresspost, next day blah blah And it has a skier on it :)

The "cushion" envelope isn't the right one.

Pretty sure the biggest one is the one they want. They're website blows tho (xpresspost)

314 x 394mm is mine.

I jokingly told the woman I could mail my cat in an envelope this size. She didn't seem to think that was funny.

Our own consulate page says:

Effective Jan 1/07, Montreal mails the visas out. You will need to take a 314mm x 394mm or 30.5cm x 39.4cm Xpresspost (12"x15"), pre-paid (Flat-rate), signature required envelope with you to the interview.

Conversion on that doesn't quite make sense. However, the larger one was available and that's what I picked up. Honestly, it doesn't seem that big once I imagine a large manila envelope tossed inside it, along with whatever else they send back.

If you go on the site it lists three sizes:

Small size, letter size and pack size.

It's the Pack Size that you want:

394x305 mm (15.5 x 12 inches or 30.5x39.4 cm)

The wrong size (letter size) is only 318x244 mm

Hope that helps.

My Xpresspost envelope measured 12X15 inches (I measured it myself). The mm dimensions on P4 do not convert to 12X15 inches, so I figured they made a typo. The envelope did not have bubble wrap in it. It folded quite easily. Mine also had a skier on it (or at least an Olympic athlete).

My interview was November 6th and they accepted my envelope without any issues.

I just got back from the pharmacy (which has a mini postal pick-up in it) & they didn't have the 314mm X 394mm either. They had the one I already have.

Sounds like I have the same envelope you did cdn_gewels, & they accepted that.....so that makes me less worried.

So... am I the only one who actually got the Regional Pack (large) sized envelope, going by the millimeter measurements?

I agree, the measurements for millimeters don't seem right. mine is 30.5 x 39.4 cm...which is 12 in x 15.5

It is Xpresspost, regional, prepaid, next day

It seems like it will easily fold up. I'll upload a pic.

This is our first post in here. We have been following this forum over the last year and a half.

We have gotten good information that has helped us throughout our visa process.

Many of you are right in saying that once you get to the interview, there's nothing to fret about. But, in our case, we had our interview today and everything went well til we had the actual interview. We had to go back and sit around for another 2 hrs to get called back in and finally we were told that we were finally approved. That was the longest 2 hrs, as they had our future in their hands. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the Hotel Dauphin and we ate at the Pasta restaurant that was mentioned, a very good choice. Everything was in walking distance.

The envelope that we took was 12 by 15 and had no issues with it.

We meet a few VJers and they were also approved.

We will update our info in the next few days and will post in here more often. To help others that are going through this process.

Thank you all for your help.
