Montreal November Interviews

I know that we'd have enough time if we only planned for the one night, but when it came down to it, considering we'd already both lose the day off work, etc, this made sense for us.

We're not having a wedding. We're not having a honeymoon. I'm not even moving down until the end of the year.

The only foreseeable weekend away will be my birthday mid-March.

We wanted to make the most of this, so even with the little extra expense to us, it's best for what we wanted.

I certainly understand staying only the one night - we contemplated it. But the pros of an extra night for us outweighed the cons.

Totally makes sense. It definitely makes for a nice weekend away. We have been away together a lot and we are having a giant wedding that is costing us a lot, so we scrimp where we can. Plus, I wouldn't even say we scrimped on Montreal, we took the train, which was a big expense so that was another reason we decided not to stay another night. And, my interview was on a Wednesday, so we tried to minimize time off work.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Yeah I agree, I think you have a good plan Sam. Its nice to get away and spend time alone when you can. I was never really excited at the prospect of going to Montreal. I assumed it would be a terrible place I would just want to leave and never go back. I was wrong, its actually a cool place to be, but its not like I'm not pinning over the idea of going back in the near future. Bill loved it, but he's never been to Europe, so for him it was a slice of foreign culture  He actually said he wished we would have stayed longer.

Haha, hopefully it's not too cultural of an experience for us - I don't think my barely-passable French will get us by!

We would stay in Montreal longer, but we think it'd be nice to get back to my apartment and just not have to keep paying for a car or hotel.

This is like a vacation itself, his 2 week visit, so it's nice for the both of us.

I kinda wish we could just go get married and not have a wedding.

My parents insist so much that we have a wedding... and I guess I shouldn't argue since they're paying.

At least this time in Vegas I'm drinking age.

Haha, hence my birthday weekend away. I have no idea where we're going, but dammit, I know that I'm going to be drinking!

(Funny thing is, I never blinked an eye at turning 19 here in Canada. Drinking was never a big deal. However, going out to dinner and now not being able to drink is such the oddest thing. Or to have Ben run out to buy me booze. Feels very odd, haha. Can't wait to be done with that!

 don't worry, pretty much everyone speaks english! Funny story. We were at the mall over by the consulate and decided to have some Quiznos. Bill ordered first and tried to pronounce the sub he wanted in french, since the order board was all in french. He took Spanish in highschool and literally doesn't know a word of french or any clue how to pronounce things. It was basically hilarious. Then it was my turn and I just look at the guy and said, "I'll have the Turkey and Swiss" and he says, "Alright, I'll have that right up for you ma'am." Bill almost died when he realized they could all speak english. I'm still laughing at him about that

I speak a little french, but its pretty broken and pretty poor. I'm pretty good at being able to read it however. So whenever we'd encounter a road sign on the highway he'd freak out and say, "what does that say?! Read it to me!!" I'm like wow Bill, it just says there is roadwork on a street we aren't driving too, its going to be ok. I was actually surprised at home much I could understand when I was there. I'd never consider my French skills to be very good, at all!

I'm not really a drinker either, but it feels weird being underage in Vegas.

When Sean first came out ot Florida he was 20. So he couldn't drink here, but as soon as he's home he can drink. I think it's funny. I never cared about drinking ever. Seriously I was told in the 4th grade that alcohol kills brain cells, and good grades ("marks" for you Canucks!) were so important to me (all the way through grad school) that I never drank! I had my first hangover when I was in Canada this summer- I threw up all over his Uncle's front yard. The funny thing is they say I can visit any time! Ha!

How many of us on November 20th were scheduled for 8am? What time is everyone planning to arrive? I promise I am not asking this so I can beat you there (crosses fingers behind back).
