Tax transcripts = overkill.

Won't stop me from bringing them, but they certainly aren't required.

so what, exactly IS required? i know i should know this, but i'm not bringing anything in the way of proof of income because i don't have any. just an affidavit of support filled out. but my parents...well i want them to supply us with like, everything and more. they're getting testy. :|

so what's required?

i think they've got a letter from my dad's employer and how much he makes and a statement from the bank? but i think that's the minimum and its making me reeeeeaaaaaalllll nervous.

See, the thing is, the requirements for the I-134 and the I-864 (which will be required for AOS) are different, yet many COs will look to see that what you have are closer to that of the I-864, as you'll be filing for it soon thereafter.

The requirements of extra documentation depend on what you're using on the form itself. If you (or your co-sponsor) listed income, you need evidence to back up the income. The only time a bank statement/record of deposit would come into play (as far as I know) is if you're listed funds/assets on the form.

You must submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources, as appropriate:...

To meet the employment angle for the I-134, really, all you need is the statement from the employer on company stationery. As most of us are overly paranoid about covering all of our bases, it's best (and easy) to include pay stubs along with that. Tax transcripts only further prove what's been shown in the previous two pieces of information at this stage. For the I-864, transcripts (or a copy thereof) are a requirement.

For your parents, letter of employment will suit, pay stubs will provide backup. If you have time, tax transcripts certainly don't hurt, but they do take awhile to come in (free to acquire, but ours took a couple of weeks in normal mail). They aren't a requirement at this stage, though.

And just to add, I'm extremely nervous about how our ages will be received at the interview, as both myself and my fiance are fairly young. I was worried that they wouldn't take an employment letter from his boss as proof alone of his employment (not to mention, the woman who wrote it only put his hourly wage and neglected to mention that he has full-time status, so we actually need all of the other ####### to back up the claim on the form itself), so I'm bringing everything we could get our hands on.

I think my fiance's bringing a letter from his employer, paystubs and W2's for the last 3 years.

I'm sure this oughta be enough, and he will be there as well, so they shouldn't question us so much I think.

My fiance does have a debt coming straight out of his paycheck, but still makes 10k above the 2 person poverty line with it.

I still think we'll be okay otherwise.

well you've been mature enough to handle all of this nonsense!

in nyc people don't get married until they're in their late 20's/30's. i was engaged when i was 23- thank christ that never took! i was absolutely unprepared for most types of responsibility!

I am going to dress below my years because I just turned 31 on Monday and Sean is turning 22 next month . . . so yeah we are 10 years apart at the time of our interview! Ha!

I got married the first time when I was 18. Legal age is legal age. Don't worry about being young, just pray the days and years go by slowly!

Turning 22 two weeks after the interview

I was just discussing with my co-worker how no one will blink an eye that your fiance is so much older (because he is the man) but how I have to explain myself being 9 years older (because I am the woman). I brought Sean to work once and our custodian asked if he was my son (seriously?), yet she later told me her BF is 10 years younger than her!

I've seen threads from other countries (high risk countries) where the woman being older was a problem (ok they were like 25 years older . . .) but I expect that in Canada no one will discriminate against us for our age!

I mean your own female former Prime Minister, Kim Campbell, has been in a common law marriage with a guy 21 years younger, Hershey Fedler.

Yeah, it's weird how people dont really have a problem with age difference unless it's like 20+ years or the female's older.

I like older men, but I think beyond 15 years age difference is a bit much...

My personal opinion.

And... I didnt even know we had a female Prime Minister. Some Canadian I am.

I think we only had one. Not that I paid much attention in History.

Thanks everyone for making me feel a bit better though. Of all things to stress about, that's the one I can't really change/overprepare for, haha, but it's still the one lingering in the back of my mind. We are planning on dressing up a bit though (and freezing in the process, I'm sure), and with all of our preparation, hopefully my silly concerns won't be of any mind.
