K1's don't need proof of domicile from my understanding. it's only CR1/IR1s that are doing direct consular filing.

Ah, OK. I was wondering about that. All these "universal" instructions sent from the consulate were confusing me, I guess.

Quick question: If I haven't made above the poverty limit for two people over the last year (mostly due to being a student for part of it and being in the US a lot of the other part), the affidavit of support from my fiancee should cover me, right? So the "proof of support" stuff isn't strictly necessary as long as you have the affidavit and proof of *their* support?

My fiance is the Canadian and he is bringing nothing about his income. Afterall, you have to quit your job to relocate so having a job is not necessary!

He is a student and got laid off in August from his part-time accounting job.

He is going to be my house-husband when he gets here.

Wow, I just looked up the rate of the hotel I booked on their own website.

I paid $69 + the hotwire fees totalling to about 89 dollars.

Their own rates are like $159 + taxes.

Sheesh, I think I scored pretty good on that one.

Now I just need to call and ask for a double bed... though twin beds might not be such a bad idea so I can actually try to sleep that night

The room we stayed at in Ottawa last weekend, we paid 80/night through hotwire and the regular rate was 300/night. It was fantastic :)

Ooh, that's a good price you got there.

I found some amazing deals through them for Vegas, since we're marrying there. I dont really feel the need to say in a top hotel's honeymoon suite. Hell all I do in the room is sleep anyway.

Rhiann I looked up your hotel and I saw the same thing. You got a great deal! I'll be using hotwire to book our hotel too. :)

Hmm, I would guess Central, personally.

Try looking up the addresses and compare them to the consulate or hotel if you have one booked.

Hotwire rules. You will not be disappointed. For downtown montreal, pretty much all the hotels are within walking distance to the Consulate.. the downtown area isn't THAT big. If you were to get one a bit further, you can also just hop in a cab, I'm sure it would be less than $10.

Rhiann - Does the hotel say that they have rooms with 2 single beds? I've never heard of a Novotel having rooms with that set up. You might get a room with 2 double beds, but generally you can just ask at check-in for a room with a King Bed. That's what we do. Sometimes they can give it to you and sometimes they can't... it just depends on the availability and you can't really have a choice with a Hotwire booking.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Yeah, I noticed it after that they do two double beds or king.

I'll have to ask when we check in.
