Question:

We (the Canadians) need to bring our passport to the interview....do we need photocopies of the pages?

Somehow I don't think we do, maybe it's just me being paranoid...

I want to say that I needed to bring a copy of the picture page... but I can't remember for certain.

Perhaps someone else will weigh in.

1. I am staying at the Tour Centre Ville Nov 19-21. So, I anyone wants to have a beer - let me know.

2. Would this be good enough "Evidence of Support": 2008 Tax returns, bank statements, last 6 pay stubs, I-134 Support Form, letter from her employer stating her salary ($56K/year). Is there something I am missing here? Will this be OK.

Thanks!

That is supposed to be good enough for the I-134. You don't need to bring anything about assets or bank statements unless you are using those in addition to income (if you don't make enough). I have a post about that somewhere- I'll link it if I can find it.

I am bringing my last 3 years of tax transcripts plus W2s (just because), my pay stubs for the last 6 months, a letter from my employer, a copy of my contract with the school board, along with my school counselor certificate and of course the I-134 form notarized and "in duplicate" as it states on the instructions.

I am not bringing anything about assets or bank statements because I am qualifying based on my income. I am not even including my child support because I make well over what is needed for a family of 4 (which is what we will be!).

Ok I found one post (not the one I was thinking of but it works):

Sounds good Dutchmatt! Thats all we brought minus the bank statements. We also brought a letter from the bank, but I don't think that was completely necessary.

And you no longer need to have the I-134 notarized as long as you use the newest updated version.

Guys I am feeling lost as to how to search for hotels. I am the USC, so I went online and typed in the address for the Montreal Consulate and all I got was a map with a bunch of $275/per night hotels that were within walking distance.

When I tried hotwire.com, I could not narrow down my search to find out what was close to the consulate (it said within 100 miles- big deal!).

How can I search? Help!

I booked my hotel.

I did it though hotwire, I was hoping for the Hilton, but this one looks just as nice and it's a very straight forward walk to the consulate. About a 15 minute walk.

It's called Novotel Montreal Centre.

Oh, and on the left you can uncheck the ones that aren't downtown.

I got one that was pretty darn close and only 69 dollars a night for 3.5 stars.

You need a copy of the bio page (with all of your info on it). That's all my packets mention.

Thanks!

For my fiance, we ordered the last three years' tax transcripts, have all of October's pay stubs, the letter from his employer (botched, but oh well) and the I-134 itself. Honestly, for you, the letter itself will probably suit fine, with the rest just as extra support.

Oh, question about using hotwire.

Now that I've booked, should I be calling to make sure I get a Double/Queen sized bed?

I dont want to be stuck with two twin beds.

Rhiann,

When I go to hotwire, it just says "Downtown Montreal Hotel." Huh? Are they all within walking distance, because that is what I want.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all of them would be within walking distance.

Some may be a bit farther than others, but I'm thinking no more than 20 minutes of walking to call that downtown.
