I really hope they arent slow at mailing the Visas out.

My interview is on the 16th and if I get approved (fingers and toes crossed) I'd like to be in the US for US Thanksgiving! But I think that might be pushing it b/c these ppl work like turtles...re--a--l-l-y s-l-o-o-o-o-w.

How long do u think is a safe time period to book a flight after the interview (assuming one gets approved at the interview)?

I also received my P4 today. :) the $400 thing gave me a heart attack almost, but yeah, I think it's for DCF. After that, it says: "For K visa applicants, the machine-readable visa (MRV) fee of $131.00 US or the Canadian dollar equivalent must be paid in cash on the day of your interview."

As far as a 'safe' time... I personally wouldn't book any moving plans for less than 10 business days after the interview, but that's me, and apparently I'm a pessimist. lol

I laughed at this too... lol I'm SO very glad that books and magazines aren't on the list of prohibited items, though I think while I'm waiting I'll need a barf bag more than anything... :P

Hey guys,

I just want to be sure. When the interview letter asks for a birth certificate, they mean yours, as the beneficiary. We don't need to bring the original of the petitioner, right? I can get it if I really needed it, but can you guys just assure me?

Thanks!!

You need to bring the long form birth certificate of the Canadian citizen applying for the visa.

Wow, now I'm glad I didn't spend the 90 American I got in March.

I really need it.

It can be the Canadian equivalent. So if you bring a wad of Canadian cash, they can tell you what 131USD in CAD is. That's how i interpreted P4.

==========

I think the advice given many many times before also applies here -- don't book until visa is in hand. I plan to drive, so if I'm delayed by some days I won't be hurting, and if I have to book a rental, I absolutely am not going to do that before visa is in hand.

If you did book a flight, maybe try to pay the extra money to have a flexible ticket so that if you can't leave until 3 days later, you can change the flight.

I have a ticket I booked for March but didn't use, so I can rebook with it.

That saves cost, thankfully.

I would LOVE to fly out on the 20th, but that's only 5 mail days, so I don't think I'll count on it.

K-1's pay 131.

And I didn't get my P4 today, bummer.

It's like it's coming from the other side of the world or something.

Why are you trying to reschedule? Just out of curiousity

Our first interview was on September 29th and I was still under work contract in Caribbean...when I sent back my packet 3 I have requested some dates for my interview if it was possible ...of course after my return in Canada on October 15 but I never got the Packet 4 and I emailed them around sept 15 and got the appointment letter for Sept. 29. by email.

I sent back right quick an email to tell them that I could not be there and please re-sechedule...I sent several emails, my fiance too from different addresses but they said they never got our emails...weird ...but we finally got in touch with them and got the date we wanted THANKS GOD!

I'm going to visit him on November 8 to 22 and he will fly back with me to come at the interview with me...Hope all will be ok with Canadian and US immigration...someone has some advices for us?

Thanks

Jo
