Charles like any moderator will and can have their decisions reviewed by myself if need be. Trying hard to do the right thing but making a few mistakes along the learning curve is human. If there are problems with new positions I will evaluate that too. Like people have said, I admit Charles is certainly "out of the norm" with past choices but I see potential for many reasons that he can be helpful in the Regional Forums -- or I would not have asked him. There is always a risk when adding any new "abilities" to members however I think it is fair to "give a guy a chance" to do their job and go from there.

What we need is a better search engine.

More importantly, posters who will actually use even the one we have now.

I am just appalled at the number of repeat questions in the 'upper' forums. Even questions that have answers in pinned topics. They just can't be bothered to look.

This post, in a nutshell, is what's wrong with the upper forums.

We get a lot of repeat questions in the RU forum too. But instead of berating the poster, we answer their question (sometimes with a link to a relevant post or guide) and usually follow up with some friendly banter. Is it any wonder why some people prefer talking immigration in the regionals? Fix the attitude of this poster, and you've fixed the upper forums problem.

Sometimes, it takes people with leadership skills to know who has potential and who does not. It's not always something that can be quantified or explained.

not speaking for anyone other than myself - one of the issues that comes up a lot is the OT crowd wandering over & causing trouble in the upper forums. it might be taken better by the OT crowd if an OT regular 'asked' them to tone it down a bit, rather than someone they don't have much contact with on a regular basis.....i dunno just a thought
