If you read back a few pages it was explained quite explicitly and in some detail what is wrong with sheriff Joe and his methods.

His popularity doesn't answer any of that.

Well, Maricopa County isn't exactly known for its intellectuals.

Since the federal government is doing nothing, he is simply serving his constituents. Good on him. I sent his office an email today saying job well done. Also asked him if and where I could donate a few grand.

All good an well to sit up here, a a few thousand miles away from it all, and talk ####### about someone trying to fix a problem facing his community.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

The thing is, he isn't. He's just making noise and exploiting ignorance about how it all works (or doesn't). He knows that people are frustrated with the relative impotence (by design) of the Border Patrol and other federal agencies to control the border situation, but what he's attempting to do is teardrop-in-the-sea stuff, and he knows it. It's basically symbolic.

Why not send your money to Larry A. Dever, Cochise County Sheriff? He needs it more than Sheriff Joe does.

If the idiots running the federal government spent as much energy actually detering illegal immigration rather than detering any effort to detering illegal immigration...maybe there wouldn't already be 20 million illegal aliens running amok in the USA.

Yep. It is simple. Economic incentive brought them here, ONLY economic incentive will send them back.

Implement a $500,000 per day, per person tax for employing illegal immigrants (slaves). Companies which employ them will be bankrupted when caught and their property seized to pay. Require the I-9 form for public school enrollment, medical care (except life threatening emergencies) require proof of legal presence to send money by any electronic means.

When they cannot be abused as slaves any longer, when they can no longer be exploited for cheap labor, they will go home exactly as they came, none will need to be deported.

The tolerance of employers abusing these people in this country, basically the modern form of slavery, is revolting and the ultimate remaining form of racism. Republicans exploit them for cheap labor for business and Democrats exploit them to curry favor with Hispanic voters and increase the number of people dependant on government. I am appalled that Hispanics continue to vote for people who are enslaving their own family members and calling it a "good deed".

The Sherrif in AZ is playing Whack-a-Mole, it will never work. Wasting law enforcement on rounding up economically driven slaves is a waste of time and money. The only way to end slavery is to make it economically distasteful to the slave owners. There will be no more need for slaves. The slaves will ask the Sheriff for a free ride back home.

Calls for amnesty are conscriptions for new slaves who will pour across the border. Problem is, once the slaves become free and expect the same minimum wage, working conditions, benefits, etc. as the free people enjoy, then they have to compete in the job market with educated, English speaking non-slaves. The Republican businesses want slaves and will simply import a new batch to take the place of the recently freed but non-competitive former slave work force (haven't we seen this before?)

Federal tax of $500,000 per day on each slave employed. I-9s for medical care, school enrollment, money transfers. Tear down the fence, I do not like being fenced in. They did that in Berlin.

STOP Slavery now. The Sheriff will no longer need to do that job, he won't need your money, no one will need to be deported, there will be no incentive for slavery and Barack Obama can be the guy that gets credit for truly ending slavery in this country. We need to stop this trafficking of humans in our country to be exploited by business and politicians...including the Sheriff in AZ, who gets more than a few votes that way.

Joe knows how to work the media - that's for sure. That probably has a lot to do with why he keeps getting re-elected, as opposed to any tangible claims of "success" in curbing illegal immigration.

About $50 million in damages have been paid out to people who have been killed or badly injured in his jails - some of which he has been found personally liable for.

So true, if we made and ENFORCED laws that punished anyone for employing and illegal criminal as severe as you suggest then you are right, it would all end and stop, the only reason they come here is to exploit the USA system for the money and the USA employers exploit the system to bring them here. Our Congress has been damn weak on putting and end to this nonsense.:thumbs:

There are illegal immigrants in the US from just about every country, including Australia (Of course no where near the same number as those from Mexico, but still illegally here). What do you say we start rounding up anyone with a foreign accent until we deport everyone who is here illegally?

What have gathered over the years clearly to some like yourself here, the he does it to argument is a valid excuse. Numbers mean nothing to you. For example, per 10,000 people, if 10 Aussies were illegal compared to 350 South Americans, in your mind neither is worse than the other. That is not true. As South American tare 35 times more likely to be illegal than Aussies. However, you will sit here and say nope, illegal is illegal.
