Sheriffs are elected. They're not assigned. Goes to show how the people in that area are portrayed.

yea.. Arpaio is just doing what the people want, and the people in that area, looks like are pretty fukced up... and quite xenophobic

What makes you say that? cuz the people speak out, on what they want. Or is it they are just not part of the nacho brigade?

nacho brigade..is that some type of new slander term.? did not want to write wetback?

reported for being a chopf##K

Good point, I wasn't sure what he was talking about. Nachos are an american thing, not mexican, so I was confused.

Nachos originated in the city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, just over the border from Eagle Pass, Texas, at a restaurant called the Victory Club, owned by Rudolfo DeLos Santos.[1][2] One day in 1943, the wives of ten to twelve U.S. soldiers stationed at Fort Duncan in nearby Eagle Pass were in Piedras Negras on a shopping trip, and arrived at the restaurant after it had closed for the day. The maître d', Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya, invented a new dish for them with what little he had available in the kitchen: tortillas and cheese.

the nacho brigade, new term?

no, I'm saying that because people are happy with Arpaios method which basically targets at a specific group, and uses ridiculous and biased excuses to claim 'probable cause' to then check their legal status, of course the people happy with him are the ones that don't fall in that category that says that 'foreign speech or dress patterns are justification for probable cause'.. meaning all foreigners should be treated as possible illegals, detain them and ask questions later, that, is xenophobic, and if people argee with that, they are as well

Well if the foreigners have a Green Card then, they will not be detained! Illegal immigration is not xenophobic...

that's not the problem, the problem is that he's targeting a specific group, and using prejudiced profiling methods to find a probable cause to ask for documents.. basically he says that if a foreigner looks or talks like the group he's targeting, that's enough reason to pull them over and ask for documents, that's not the way to procede, it's not the law.. it's not a real probable cause

whoops - sorry - i get yer point now -

yer saying the people of that area appear to be quite xenophobic.

Ya, I get that, now :D

It's not about the fear or dislike of foreigners it's about the the law!

removing rights or using excuses to abuse the law, is not abiding by the law

AND THIS IS

Arizona’s illegal immigrant population is costing the

state’s taxpayers about $1.3 billion per year for education, medical care

and incarceration. Even if the estimated tax contributions of illegal immigrant

workers are subtracted, net outlays still amount to more than $1 billion

per year.

None of which justifies a rogue Sheriff changing the law however he sees fit.

Lets say a white guy commits a crime in your town. By your logic, the police are justified in rounding up all the white guys, including you, just to find the guy who committed the crime. The only basis for arresting you, is you share the same race as the person who actually committed the crime.

I'm not talking about not deporting illegals, if he finds them and deports them in a legal and civilized way, fine with him, but he's just twisting the law however he finds it convenient.. I'm not talking about the illegals per se, but the collateral damage that he's doing, it's big, it's not just a couple of mistakes

Well...it would be rather stupid to include members of other races when the suspect is a white guy. But let's just waste a lot of time, money, and effort just to be stupid and fair for appearance sake.

BTW...questioning and imprisoning are 2 different situations altogether. Let's not get them confused.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

And lets not diminish the impact of bringing someone in for questioning...
