So me and my fiancee just went down to the social security administration building, and they ran her I-94 and passport info and said they have no record, or "verification" of her records/documents.

They said that it would take up to 4 weeks to verify her information, and then they could send her a SSN via snail mail, then the SS card would follow 2 weeks later.

My fiancee arrived here in Texas on Sept. 22nd. Is it strange that they can't "verify" her in their system yet? Anyone else run into this?

Thanks.

Shirr and I went to our SS office about 60 days into her I-94 and she was in the system.

Maybe you need to give it another few weeks....

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

If they can't find her - don't file for SSN (IMO) .

Go back again, Wednesday or Thursday, try again.

If you still don't have success by Thursday (IMO ) - go to BIGGER office, talk to a supervisor - you may be suffering from brain dead employee at 'that ' office, unknowing on how to access the fed data system.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

moved from pi regional to Working & Traveling prior to getting a Green Card. This section also covers getting a Social Security Number (SSN) and is for general discussion on all these topics. you'll find more expert advice in this forum than in the pi regional.

If there is no record of her arrival after almost a month, I doubt waiting longer to apply will change anything.

The verification is a three step process. They first try it while you are in the office, if they can't verify your status, for example, no record, date of birth is incorrect, name is misspelled (However, if it's only off by one letter that is acceptable), they then send a secondary electronic verification request. They normally get a response in a week. If that verifies they process the application. If the response is that immigration wants to see a copy of the document, a copy of the front and back of the document is mailed along with Form G-845. You need to allow a month for that. They have a number to call if the G-845 doesn't come back withi a month.

The best thing you can do is keep going back to the office no more than once a week to make sure they have done what needs to be done and ask of they have received a response.

Alright then....guess i wait a little longer. Thanks yall.

I met the same problem as your fiancee. I went to the local SSA office two weeks after I reached Dallas. As I need a SSN to apply for driver's license. I went to the local office to find out whether there is a SSN assigned to me already as I applied for SSN when I filled in the DS-230 form. Unfortunately, the agent(an asian wowan, who can speak Chinese) told me that they cannot find my information in the system and will verify my information within 4 weeks. I am now stuck at home.
