So let me get this straight, the firefighter is within his rights to demand to be allowed to put up a patriotic symbol in his work place because to him it is a 'meaningful' symbol?

You guys are potty is what you are.

Its stupid to put your job at risk over a sticker.

to you its just a sticker, its more than just a sticker him. Why even were our wedding ring I mean after all its just a ring nothing more nothing less, thats the same sort of thinking your using to try and sell your point.

Its wrong place/ wrong time IMO. I'm sure every single firefighter in the department is a patriotic American... all the firefighter did was create a controversy where it shouldn't have existed.

Obviously the controversy wouldn't have existed if someone hadn't put up the dodgy imagery that led to the zero tolerance policy.

I agree with Madame Cleo.

There are rules which whether or not sounds questionable must still be followed. For example, in the breakroom at work, there are papers posted on the wall that says "Don't leave your mess on the table or you will be written up"

In this case, the Fire Dept. did not want anything to be glued or stick onto the lockers. It's the dept rule. It turns out the firefighter with the flag ignored all the rules by leaving his sticker on the locker. As a result of not following certain rules, he does need to face the consequence.

What does it matter what it means to him?

It matters alot! If my wedding ring was just for decoration I wouldnt wear it, not a ring person.

Yes he needs to take the sticker off and follow the rules, then he needs to stand up for what he thinks is right. One of the biggest problems here is the dept. handling of the this, a blanket approach is never the answer.

My wedding ring & the American flag mean a lot to me to, but again the firefighter was wrong IMO. Can you honestly equate patriotism with refusing to remove a sticker from a locker, which is directly against department policy? This isn't the Tiananmen Square protests; it's a misguided attempt to make a point.

 honestly man - how can you be so thick?

What are you saying here - that physical objects can have symbolic, sentimental meaning? Who knew?

None of this justifies a grown man behaving like a baby over a bloody piece of paper with glue on the back.

No, the biggest problem is this clown who thinks the rules do not apply to him because he doesn't like them.

sure him not following the rules is a problem but taking a blanket approach to fix the problem of people posting racial sensitive stuff ranks higher on stupid gauge IMO.
