I think my favorite spot in the whole city, though, is Young and Dundas. (shoot me if I got that wrong...)

Quick! Where's my gun!!!

It's Yonge. :hehe:

What part of Burlington, Frenzy?

LOL SORRY!! My brain told me to spell it Yonge, and ... my fingers decided they were right. :/

As for where he lives... it spawned a bit of funnies since I always get street names mixed up...

Kay says (5:55 PM):

*You live off of Mainway and .....?

*Upper middle?

Matt says (5:57 PM):

*Mainway and Guelph.

*Or Mainway and Walkers.

*Or Upper Middle and Guelph.

*Or Upper middle and Walkers. :x

Kay says (5:57 PM):

Matt says (5:57 PM):

*In the square those intersections make. :3

OOOhhhh love this thread!

Well I lived in Manila then moved to Baltimore for university and finally to Toronto 2 years ago. I dont think Ive ever been to a place like TO before -- and Ive visited many cities too. And I love it!!!

I live uptown and used to study downtown. I think my most favorite part of TO is Queen St W -- I loooooove all the shops that have both high end and cheap/bargain items. And all the small restaurants and dessert places!!!! I love watching 4 dollar movies from the Rainbow cinemas near St. Lawrence :D I love that I can find Filipino food here and where I live, find almost every Asian cuisine out there! I also love having public transit bec it is so much better than paying gas!!! However, I cant say I am a fan of the TTC especially during snow storms LOL

As for the earlier question about Christmas -- I actually find Christmas here a little sad just cause most of my extended family is in Manila and my fiance has a HUGE family in Baltimore, so Christmas in either city is always fun. BUT there are a LOT of events that happen in downtown TO -- light exhibits, bazaars, santa parades. I also didnt think there was any difference between American Christmas and Canadian Christmas, but I guess in my experience in TO, I find there is more hype about the shopping and the Christmas rush.

I do want to make a comment about what Sapphire said earlier -- about being drawn to small town life. I wouldnt consider Baltimore (or its neighboring suburb Columbia) "small town", but I did notice a HUUUUGE change of pace from living down there to up here. I am really intoxicated with all the "stuff" I can do up here, and I love the energy from the city. But I do feel really peaceful whenever I visit my fiance in Maryland. Its as if everyone is in a rush up here and things are more relaxed down there (thats funny I say that, I dont think I felt relaxed when I was studying!!!).

I must say I will definitely miss the city, but I do look forward to coming back to Baltimore :P

Ok done blabbing now :P

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Yay for Oakville, Ancaster, and Toronto! lol

Yeah, there's definitely good and bad to both.

Me..... I want to move to a quaint little cottage in a little town in England. Somewhere where I can walk to the local pub or the chippy, and go to teas at the village church. I would like that. :)

Torquay?

No. Definitely not Torquay. But it's nice there, though. :)

That's one thing I liked about Toronto was unlike a lot of cities, it was really pedestrian friendly (not with like walking trails etc), but in the downtown core, there was so much you could wander and see and do on foot. Cities like Philly weren't quite the same. Boston was probably the closest I can think of where there's stuff downtown all over the place to see. Cities like LA and Phoenix and such though aren't like that.

So that's why Toronto Rocks, oh wait wasn't that a video show in the 80's with this one guy?

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

Ah, I loved the lake. We spent many nights walking up and down the boardwalk area by that fancy restaurant. When I first went up there, he was living in this crappy apartment on New -- can't say I'm not happy he isn't there anymore!! LOL! The management was horrible and it was just bad all around.

... I miss Burlington now. :(

I was born and raised in Hammertown (that would be Hamilton) which is only 45 min away (on a good highway day lol). Fondest memories of TO is going to the the Organ Grinder and the Spagetti Factory as a child ... China Town is awesome. We would dock our boat every year at Ontario Place when the CNE was happening ... I can still hear the jingle for the X in my head.

We'd go school clothes shopping at Eaton's and Simpsons every year. At Christmas we would go to look at the amazing window displays with the trains running through the winter scenes and things. Toronto was a magical city back then.

Ah, I loved the lake. We spent many nights walking up and down the boardwalk area by that fancy restaurant. When I first went up there, he was living in this crappy apartment on New -- can't say I'm not happy he isn't there anymore!! LOL! The management was horrible and it was just bad all around.

Here is a webcam for you: http://ontariocanadawebcams.com/burlington.html

Do you know if you stand in the middle of that compass down at Spencer Smith park, and talk or yell, it will sound like you are an in enclosure with the acoustics and your voice will reverberate all around you? It's pretty amazing.

We would dock our boat every year at Ontario Place when the CNE was happening ... I can still hear the jingle for the X in my head.

We would do that too! We'd take the boat over to Ontario Place so we could see the fireworks without the crowds and the traffic. You'd be right underneath them and it was so amazing.

Oh damn that's right I do remember that as well being taken there as a kid numerous times. We have a Spaghetti factory here and ate there once, but it's nothing like what I remember it being like. The Organ Grinder was cool from what I remember, with ####### hanging from the ceiling and fortune teller machines etc and pipes playing musics all over the place.

One of our traditions when I was younger (or in my teens) also with my family was hitting the Eatons Center the day after Christmas when places would have big sales and stuff. I remember hitting Record Peddler and Sam's and A&A or something on Young and buying albums after albums and carrying them around trying not to have them crushed with the millions of people all lining up for for the sales...

Oh hello! There are a lot of here living the Delaware Valley area! :D

What Sprailenes was attempting to say (I think) is that there are quite a few of us near Philly. :)

@Sprailenes :P

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."
