Electronic Processing

Now that some of you have done EP, what's the general feedback on the process? Do you guys think you shaved some valuable time going this route rather than regular mail and hard copies? We're getting pretty close to NOA2 and am considering electronic processing. I haven't completely commited to it given what I've been reading. But given some pms and reading what I can, I may go for it. But I am interesting in hearing people's thoughts and comments re this.

Well, you know this from our PM exchanges, but yes -- definitely a huge boon for me personally. Had it not been for a minor RFE (financial information on the I-864 was wrong -- we wrote my wife's post-tax net salary as opposed to the gross), the process would have taken a mere three weeks from opt-in to case complete. Even with the RFE it was only four weeks...and an RFE with regular processing would have taken MUCH longer to rectify!

But yes...it's not for everyone. There's a bit of a "seat of your pants" feel to it, given that there's very little information that comes from the NVC itself regarding the process. But enough of us have been through it here now to provide a relatively diverse sample of experiences. But I would definitely recommend it.

I found that EP was very easy, but noticed that things took longer at the interview. They had to input quite a bit of information and check documents against their information. So in that way, it slows you down a bit, but a few minutes is nothing compared to a possible few weeks in the whole process.

I had no problem with EP, but, at times, it was confusing. They sent me the most random emails. I called NVC and I was told that the emails were sometimes "off". From that point, I simply followed the steps described by LingChe and ignored the "random" emails. I would do it again though.

I just got my DS-3032 kit in the mail (traditional paper mail), in there they said I can convert it to electronically, so I did, with help of this guide: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...onic_Processing,

Now I am waiting for NVC to reply (or to invoice me the $400 IV bill, the AOS has already paid and my wife is working on her I-864), I will keep it updated as soon as I hear back from NVC.

Is this DS 3032, sent by the beneficiary, sent in at the same time as the OPTIN email? And does the petitioner or beneficiary complete the OPTIN?

You're using the new address, correct? Maybe try doing it to the old address as well? It's also possible that they don't have an auto-reply set up for their new address. Hmm...

I called this morning and talked with another operator. Found out that was the problem, I had sent it to the old address (but when I called a couple of days after I sent it, the operator I spoke with then said "no, that's fine" when I asked if I should resend it. Anyway, I explained what had happened, and either she did something, or it was just that time, but we got the emails about 4 hours later. I had checked the payment portal this morning, and it still showed the IV bill not invoiced. Checked after the email, and it showed not paid - so I paid it.

Anway, to shorten a long story, am back on track - so to speak.

We had a great experience with electronic processing. I didn't notice any delays at the interview because of it (I was out of there in 40 mins). In fact the people who didn't do electronic processing were stuck at the consulate waiting to pay the fee (the cashier wasn't open and then was having problems with the computer) - I was the only one who didn't have to worry about that because we had to take care of it in advance with EP.

We have just started the Electronic Process. We sent in the OPTIN email on 3/9 with the Choice of Agent scanned and attached. And I called in last night and gave them our email addressess over the phone. The operator said the packet had been sent via the regular mail.

How do I get into the payment portal to pay the first bill? Or do I wait for the packet to arrive first? I was noticing someone earlier said they paid it the same day they did the OPTIN email?
