I am trying to pay the AOS bill online right now. I check the AOS box, then click on Pay Selected Fees, and nothing happens. That page just reloads. I feel like an idiot; what am I doing wrong?

Did you get an email with an invoice and the IIN number saying the bills were available to be paid? If so, the site may be having difficulties. Try it again later.

Yes, I did. Must be technical issues. Thanks!

OK, once these are paid, will send the EP email to them. I hope it goes smoothly; their instructions are not 100% clear. Or maybe this whole immigration process has made my brains leak out of my head.

Well, you send the OPTIN email with the DS-3032 before you pay the fees, then you wait for the first fee to become available...then you pay it, wait for the bar-coded receipt, then send that in with all the pertinent documents...then wait for the SECOND fee to become available, pay it, wait until you get the coded receipt for that, then send the remaining docs in. It really does mirror the regular process. Just imagine it as though you were going to MAIL the docs in...but instead of mailing, you email the documents together at the same time, in the same email.

Like I said above, they really have NO instructions for Electronic Processing. Just trust us in this thread. :P

If you want some help or another set of eyes to look at it before you post it, I'll be glad to help out... You have the experience of an RFE, I do not...

Absolutely! I'll certainly take you up on that.

My RFE was really a breeze to deal with though...it was literally cleared up on the same day. It would have taken a lot longer if it hadn't been for EP.

You can send the OPT IN Email Now .

The ONLY REASON I pegged 'it' to wait, on the wiki, was specifically for GUZ-bound petitions -

the casefile number changes.

That's not the case for MTL-bound petitions.

You can OPT IN now.

You can also PAY now.

once the payment is marked as 'paid', then you can send in the first thing (usually is I-864 set) .

Good Luck !

I'm sending it right away. I did not need to send the DS-3032 because I have a lawyer (DS-3032 sent as part of original I130 submission), so they added as the invoices communication that I am able to do the EP by following the instructions on the website yada yada yada.

And I do trust you. Really. :innocent:

Oh, the previous problem with payment was due to my use of Chrome. When I switched to Firefox, I was fine.

Valerie - after the BODY of the OPTIN email -

I suggest you make a brief sentence about WHY yer not including that DS-3032.

I can't remember reading about someone doing NVC EP with an attorney (doesn't mean it didn't happen :D , but... )

Yeah, I was thinking that too. I'm a little concerned about going the EP route while you've got an attorney involved. You'll likely be fine, but the lack of a paper trail might be a bit problematic...

Well, someone's gotta be first, right, and report back how it went? Hope it doesn't screw anything up. *fingers crossed*

ya - it may be just dead easier for Val to take that original DS-3032 that has the attorney info on it,

and scan it, send it in.

There IS a spot on the OPT IN Email template for attorney info, but.

without a DS-3032 to be 'sent in' ? IMO, slows down the process, them Serco contractors aren't smart enough to look in the casefile for documents.

Yeah, I figured as much. I don't think you'll be able to pay right away. They'll need to process your opt-in email. You will get an "opt-in approved" kind of email back, and then after that you should be able to pay. It struck me as odd that the site showed that you could pay both right away... It's basically a three step process.

I'm a bit worried about this because you do have an attorney, technically anything that comes from or goes to the NVC should be to/from your attorney, unless you file a new DS-3032 with the US Citizen as the contact.

Are you using the attorney for this stage? If not, I'd file a new DS-3032 with the USC as the agent and send the Optin email to avoid any confusion and to possibly speed up the process. Attorneys are well known to let paperwork sit if they don't deem it top priority. I used to work for attorneys, (not immigration) but I'm sure they are mostly all the same in this respect.

this is where it gets fun, redmen ;)

the beneficiary CAN FILE ALL herself, from canada, via email, irrespective of the attorney getting involved at the NVC stage.

That choice of agent form, never excludes the Beneficiary from doing stuff.

Now that some of you have done EP, what's the general feedback on the process? Do you guys think you shaved some valuable time going this route rather than regular mail and hard copies? We're getting pretty close to NOA2 and am considering electronic processing. I haven't completely commited to it given what I've been reading. But given some pms and reading what I can, I may go for it. But I am interesting in hearing people's thoughts and comments re this.

Thanks.
