hi everyone i have a question. me and my wife took our 4 month old baby girl to the u.s embassy in manila for filing for birth abroad and u.s. passport. everything went well when we took our daughter to her appointment with a consular. after we finished the consular just asked for more documents before she could approve it. so we sent every document they needed. but my question is how do we know if she got approved or not. do we call u.s embassy or is there a website to check on it? thank u for anyones help

Best way:

1. One of you is a US Citizen and IF you are also in Manila - go to the Embassy. Walk right up during normal hours to the guard outside - you know the one - and present your passport. You have every right to enter and they will allow you through without an appointment. Once you get through the screening, go into the proper section and inform the guard that you are there to check on the status as you have not heard anything. He will tell you what Window to approach. If you are told at the first Window you are sent to that it is sitting on the Consular Officer's desk, politely request to see the Officer. The funny thing is that in Manila they really only look at the record at times if you do that! We have direct knowledge of records being lost and misplaced in the same type of case this past January.

2. Least best option. You - the US Citizen are back in the US. Spend the $18 and call the call center. Ask for the status of the case.

Good luck.
