I will heed your advice and take it to Vegas instead. Besides, I think I will enjoy my fiance's reaction ( :energy:) a lot more when he nearly experiences a heart attack upon seeing all the electricity and lights after living in a country with constant power outtages and dim lighting.

 I know it sounds evil but its the truth...lolol

Ok...so if you do Vegas, you have to certainly make it over to watch the Fountains of Bellagio, especially when they do the fountain show to the the music of Andrea Bocelli's "Time to Say Goodbye". It's a Vegas must-see...check it out on Youtube ^_^

You're right, the fountain show it very nice. I have been to Vegas and I was thinking it could be a quick stop shop for everything with the necessary family and close friends there to enjoy part of it with us.

Looking forward to a Happy New Year!!!

LOL @ constant power outages and dim lighting. Honeyhummingbird you know that is soo true.

On a serious note. I think you should keep all travels in the U.S. proper untill he has some documents in his hands. All it takes is a mechanical problem that gets the flight diverted to say.. Canada.... and you're screwed.

 I seriously doubt a flight to the VI from Florida would ever be diverted to Canada.

I've read a lot about this, but it seems to be conflicting information. I would like to go to St. Thomas, which is a U.S. virgin island, after we get married but before my fiance gets his advanced parole. Has anyone done this? i know one poster rcently did this without any problems, but i'd love to hear from others.

DON'T BELIEVE THE BS POSTED ON THE NET  - K1 HONEYMOON IN THE VIRGIN ISLANDS IS NO PROBLEM

Im American, live in New York City, fiancee (now wife) is from Shanghai. For our honeymoon, since it was wintertime I wanted a warm tropical place. There is SOOO much inaccurate information about travel to the US Virgin Islands its sad. For extra piece of mind, I paid an immigration attorney in NYC $250 for a 30 minute consult to ask if it was OK for use to travel to the USVI on our honeymoon after fiancee entered US on a K1. He checked a few books and then said "No". I have no doubt the jerk just didn't know the answer so it was easier to say no than actually do some work and find out for me

Based on so many posts in this forum, I called CBP (US customs and border patrol) and though it took a few calls and I got bounced up to a supervisor, then their supervisor, who did not know the answer for certain but promised to find out. Ultimately they told me definitely no problem. Warning me that we CANNOT LEAVE THE USVI to visit the British Virgin Islands. These other islands are sometimes only a mile apart, so it would be very easy to do, but it you do you are leaving the US and if somehow CBP found you would have been considered out of the US.

Something to be careful about is to be sure to keep the I-94 that is stapled in the K1 holders passport. As mentioned elsewhere, only take direct flights that stay within the US, do not connect through the British Virgin Islands, Barbados, etc, only flights inside the US. I even avoided connecting through San Juan, Puerto Rico just to avoid any extra hassle, and flew directly Miami to St. Thomas.

Truth told St. Thomas is the worst of the USVI. St. John is 100% better  , most of the island is a national park, and it is undeveloped. St. Thomas has McDonalds, KFC, K-mart- its basically like any middle-class US town/city just plopped onto an island. If you can make it to St. John or St. Croix, thats much more beautiful and undeveloped.

St. John has no airport (thats how undeveloped it is) so you must fly into St. Thomas and then take a ferry to get there. St. Croix has direct flights from Miami (American Airlines) or Chicago (United). To fly between St Croix and St Thomas you take a seaplan- very cool and different to take a plane that lands in the water.

Hello,

I just wanted to follow up since I started this post. We went to St. Thomas and had no prob;ems at all. Going was like any other U.S. flight to another state (just show license or passport to get through security). Coming back I got scared, but for no reason. You fill out a customs form and then talk to an officer. He took our form and both passports. At first my husband's (Jamaican citizen) passport wouldnb't scan. Then the officer found the visa page and scanned that. It went though and he asked when were we getting married. I said we already did and di he want to see our marriage cert.? He said no and then asked if we mailed off our AOS packet? I told him we did the prior week. That was it. he said Congrats and have a good flight home.

I agree with the person who said there is so much misinformation about this. I have to believe there is no problem at all because my husbands visa was scanned into a computer, so it wasn't just that our officer didn't know or care. So I say oif you really want to go then go but others have been hassled.

To us St. Thomas was beautifup but very boring. We couldn't find any nightlife. If you are a get up early, beach person then you will like it. However, if you like to have fun at night then this is not the place for you. Also, I didn't find the shopping to be much cheaper than here in Florida. Thwe only good part was you didn't pay sales tax.

Hey Guys! So it looks like it has been a while that this discussing has ended but I have few questions.

So I was on my F-1 Visa since 2013, I graduated from my college MAY 2016 and got my OPT. My OPT has ended on MAY 2017.

I got married on NOVEMBER 2016 with my fiance and I applied for Green Card through marriage on APRIL 2017(after 6 moths of my marriage).

I didn't got my advance parole yet, and my OPT card has expired last month.

So long story short,

I have my social security number,

I have my marriage license issued in NYC with my US Citizen Husband.

I just gave my biometrics and fingerprints to USCIS for my AOS,

and I asked for my advance parole but it looks like it won't be here in a month.

I want to travel to St Thomas and camp in Cinnamon bay for couple of days with my husband (still US Virgin Islands) and come back to New York.

I already purchased my flights as round trip, direct flights, New York JFK to Saint Thomas STT and then STT to JFK directly again.

I called customs and border protection to get the answers but they just said it's fine to travel US virgin islands but it's risky traveling without advance parole..

So will I be able to travel to St Thomas and come back without any problem? Please help I am really confused. Every website says something different. Thank you!

No one can tell you exactly what will happen.  It's safest to adhere to the most conservative advice in this thread and to listen to what CBP told you.  It's also prudent to realize that many CBP agents are in a foul mood and are looking to nail somebody.
