Hi Guys,

I was at the interview with my SO last week. Everything went well and at the end the CO told us that everything was fine and approved from their end, but that he would require some additional processing in Washington DC. So then we had to go to another window and answer some questions about his brothers and sisters and jobs, and we were given a paper that shows where to check the status of our AP online, and were told that once it says approved, to send his passport back to the embassy for the visa. We were told we would not need a second interview and that our approval for I129F would automatcally be extended. So then we left, happy that we were approved pending AP, but also sad it could be awhile before the visa is issued. (the paper said average of 5 months but the CO told us he has seen it in as little as 2 weeks)

But now...I have started to research and I getting worried. The 221g is the same code that means the visa was denied? Could we have been denied and not in AP as we thought? When people talk about visa;s being denied and being sent back. is this the same thing? We have checked the website they gave us and entered his passport number and it says pending adminitrave processing. Please please please just tell me I am being ultra paranoid and it is indeed just AP....Many thanks!!!

Whats the website? I have been in AP for more than 90 days now.I was given a green letter saying "Your case has been temporarily refused for further administrative processing" and it goes on to say when its done they will ask for the passport. They kept my passport though, i was also given a purple sticker with a serial number on it and CO also told me the same thing that i was approved and AP will take 6 weeks.I believe 221(g) is given when documents are missing plus the name check etc.In my opinion you are in AP your visa wasnt denied otherwise they would have given u a letter saying that, so relax and hang in there your AP will be over soon.

al-Hubb jameel: Your fiance is approved pending mandatory AP. The 221(g) is given out for many reasons, one of them being routine AP, so don't worry, you are not denied. If you were denied, the CO would not have put your fiance on AP and neither would he have given you the information about checking the status on the website. He would have flat out said you were denied, so that is NOT the case. You are fine, InshaAllah the AP will not last long. It is just AP, which is very common for Muslim males of many countries.

Omark: The website the OP is talking about is specifically for the US Embassy in Jordan. Not every embassy gives the benefit of checking the progress of AP online, and ISB is one of them, they do not have that option, only some consulates do. InshaAllah this week I hope you hear good news!

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

Please Dont be scared, Its just regular background check on his name , once its over the embassy will call him to send in his passport ,it takes 3 to 7 days for him to get his passport back from the embassy with the visa on it plus a sealed envelop. Good Luck and once again dont worry.
