HI, I have a question about the K3/K4 Visa (I don`t even know the difference between them at this point).

I have been looking around on the internet but i did not really find an answer to whether I`m allowed to work and/or study on this Visa. And another thing: How long is the Visa good for? And what am I gonna do after it?

Thanks to all who are gonna answer :)

You are not allowed to work in the US on a K3 visa - it is a non-immigrant visa. Read the guides here for all the information you need.

If you get a K3, you will have to adjust your status once you are in the US. You will not be able to work for 3-4 months after filiing AOS (you will file for an EAD (work authorization)).

Montreal: BEAT!!! Approved!!!!!

The difference between the K3 is for the fianc'e and the K4 is for the finac'e children, and no you can't work with a K3 until you do your AOS... hope this helps.. Blessings :innocent:

Just to clarify, K-3 is a spousal visa (not a fiance visa, that would be a K-1) and the K-4 would be for the foreign spouse's children (if any).

In the beginning of the Guides is a link to What Visa Do We Need? It shows you some of the differences between the fiance/spousal visas.

If you're married already - the best bet is the CR-1/IR-1 visa - it will allow you to work/study shortly after arriving in the US - it ends up costing less and typically doesn't add that much overall waiting time.

nevermind...i jus saw your timeline :)

Lol... Karin came on a K-1..

It takes a while - too long if you ask me, but what can you do right?

(Seriously, if you guys are already married, follow the CR-1 path - some parts are exactly the same as a K-3 but you'll get your PR/Green Card a couple of weeks after arriving in the US - much better, believe me.)
