Visiting while K1 started

Hiya,

Just wondering if anyone from the UK decided to visit while the K1 was processing? We sent our paperwork off and the NOA1 is dated September 17th. We aren't expecting the NOA2 until at least mid to end of December and I'm curious if anyone has come over for a visit. Did you have any issues at POE? Has anyone had POE of Washington DC? Now that we've booked the ticket I'm nervous (imagine that!) I just want to make sure he has everything he would need if he's questioned. I actually have a ticket booked to go to England on Christmas and we booked his return for the same day and the same flight so I'm also going to have him print out my itinerary. Any suggestions would be great!

I visited in Sep 07 between NOA1 and NOA2 with no problems at all. My POE was Boston and it was no different to any other time I'd visited. I did take proof of ties to the UK but didn't need to show them.

That's what I was hoping for that it wouldnt be any different than any other time he's come into the country but ya just never know. He actually has been laid off till the 1st of the year so we thought if he's just sitting around why not sit here.

I haven't had any experience with POE Washington DC in my entire life so I'm not sure about that. I'll just have to make sure he's armed with loads of information and hope for the best I suppose.

It's funny really....I never thought for ONE moment that he would be turned away any trip, now suddenly I'm spazzing out over it. This processes is making me crazy!

My fiance visited me in May after our NOA1 was 2/26. He pretty much has no proof of ties so we were really worried. I sent him a copy of the NOA1 and that was it. His POE was Newark and passport control was really friendly, just asked him about me and the visa process and wished good luck!

My fiance and I are getting ready to book him a ticket to come here in December. We're kind of nervous about the whole situation as well. His POE will be Seattle. We're hoping that the documents from his work will be enough and that there won't be too many questions. We're having Human Resources at his job, as well as his direct supervisor both write letters stating that he will be coming back to work.

We have already received Packet 3, so are a little further than you. We're hoping that they don't honestly think we would have gone through all of this incredibly hard work, just to blow it all at the last moment!

Good luck!

Paul just flew into Chicago O'Hare on Friday. He had just received the Packet 3 from the London Embassy before he left. When he walked out, I immediately asked if he had any problems, did he need to show them a copy of our package, the NOA2 approval, NVC approval.... he said just normal questions... why are you here and they let him right in.

On a side note: I was sweating when I went to visit him in England b/c felt like a heat lamp was over my head and the questions kept coming. :)

But every situation is different....

Nik visited for 88 days when he was laid off - same situation - it was easy personally to plan for a long visit while out of work!

Nik also visited after NOA1 - he was pulled into secondary, but as soon as they saw the NOA1 that was it, they let him in straight away. For that 2 week visit he had employer leave paperwork etc as well.

John was here for about 5 wks this summer. He left mid August and really he didn't want to leave he could have stayed but went back for his job....3 weeks after he got back they laid him off so obviously he was pretty pissed that he could have stayed and didn't.

I'll just make sure he has all his ducks in a row. When he came in last time his POE was Philly and he forgot his itinerary at home and the officer said hey John where's your return info?? John said thank god his last name was O'Donnell LOL he was thinking those irish boys have to stick together! He let him in without any trouble just said make sure you have that next time.

I hope it's just as easy this time! Like I said before out of all my travels I've never had to go through DC so I'm hoping they are good about it. I guess I'll know next Friday!

To add to this...You know I was reading a thread earlier and it seemed like the people driving over from Canada have a rough go of it. I wonder why that is? Maybe because they don't have anything saying that they would actually be returning like you have with a plane ticket? Just found that strange. I guess we aren't so neighborly with the neighbors to the north!

Its harder for the Canadians because they can come into the country with nothing and then hire a moving company to relocate their stuff to the US. A little bit harder to do when you have an ocean between you.
