Hi everyone,

I'm wondering about how to obtain a police certificate from the Dominican Republic, if I'm not living there and haven't been for many years, and no longer have any close contacts there.

I'm Canadian and did an internship in the Dominican Republic from September 2001 to June 2002 (about 9 months, with a few weeks' trip home to Canada in December). We have just received our NOA2 email :) and I am expecting that the embassy will require a DR police certificate. And from what I can tell, the application needs to be made in person at the office in Santo Domingo and the certificate picked up in person later. I've also heard it might have to be notarized. However, I'm not living there and don't really want to have to travel there right now.

Could anyone help me find out the best way to get this certificate? Does anyone have any experience with this? :help:

I called the Dominican Consulate in Ottawa to see if they could help, and eventually they said the could perform the service for a fee of $200... a little steep so I'd like to avoid it if possible.

Thank you for any help you can offer!

Laura
