On the DS-2001, there is a field for the Date of Medical exam. Do we leave this blank as we can't have a medical exam until they have accepted that we have compiled all documents and assign an interview date?

I think you leave this field blank. However my husband just had his medical exam on Friday and we haven't submitted form DS 2001 to the consulate. You can have the medical done anytime before the interview because the medical exam is good for 12 months.

I called and booked the appointment before filling that part in. You just need the case number to book a medical. I had to travel some distance to London and wanted cheap rail tickets booked in advance etc. Booked it for two weeks ahead from getting the form. One less thing to figure out nearer the time.
