What seems so odd is how people on the Right and the Left.. and middle are against it, yet it still has large support in Washington.

K Street.

The lobbies are strong, ergo common sense things like eVerify languish.

When manufacturing is dying and millions of blue collar Americans are out of work, you cannot possibly fix this by adding 20 million illegal unskilled immigrants to the labor pool.

That depends on the goal. Those that run this country - the corporations - have gotten their "fix".

It’s not large businesses employing these guys. The majority of employers are small businesses that are saving on payroll tax, insurance, and wages. They have the incentive to do so. Common sense suggests that a $20k fine per offense would nip that in the butt and overnight.

The thought that at a time of crisis and high unemployment illegal aliens are the solution, is just lunacy.

The meat processing and packaging plants, the construction industry, the whole janitorial business, agriculture (not much left in terms of real small family farms) - there are real big business interests with solid funding behind this. The policies, including the amnesties, are all purchased. And it isn't the little guy with his small business purchasing this kind of stuff - they wouldn't recover the expense for decades.

Oh...and if it wasn't just mean old rich people (Republicans) gaming the system for their own self serving interests I could buy that line of logic. But it is the Democrats that are most intent on illegal alien amnesty (with an undeserved path to US citizenship) and various reward based pandering to this same demographic with the anticipation that their political future is enhanced considerably with so many millions of grateful former illegal aliens (and their chain migration relatives) to vote for them.

On this subject I have no use for either political party. Clearly the best interests of the vast majority of the American people are not and have not been served by this lunacy. It only highlights the totally corrupt nature of the political classes and the cesspool of Washington DC politics.

By allowing them to be here and knowing they are paid way less and since they can't sue any employer they can easily be treated unfairly, the US is basically promoting a form of slavery.

There is a term "slave wages" and those kind of wages can't exist without slaves.

anyone with half a brain and not part of the establishment in Mexico is going to head north so what does that leave in Mexico...... no one to fight for any change. the establishment's policy is move north, don't ask for anything to get better here, move north and start making little voters and in 18 years those voters can assist (it is already happening). if we had a strong border and Mexicans had no choice other than staying in Mexico, maybe they would organize, protest, effect change.

My garden and possibly townhouse was built by gringos but certainly not America. America was built on the backs of numerous Europeans immigrants, in particular Italians and the Irish.

The massive flood invasions of those from Mexico taking it on themselves to hog the immigration system, occurred during the last 10 to 20 years. Over 75% of immigrants to the US over the last decade were from South America. Whereas, most other first world countries do not allow one single region to dominate their immigration system. Well call it equality and allowing everyone a fair chance to immigrate.

You should be ashamed that America discriminates against the rest of the world and prefers Latinos dominate the immigration system.

Mark yer calendars, folks. I'm feelin' Danno. Damn, that's scary...

I'm not. I may not agree with TwoInLove, but he's entitled to an opinion without being told he should leave America. He identified himself as an American- where exactly should he go?

It wasn't Danno who suggested TwoInLove leaves the country - unless Smoke and Danno are one and the same...

No, they are not. Danno just hopped aboard Smoke's wagon with his "I'm ashamed you're American" comment.

I'm not ashamed to hear an American exercise his First Amendment views and speak his mind.

So why you're hacking on Danno and Smoke, then? They're Americans exercising their First Amendment rights , aren't they?

Sure, they could and should express their views. So should you. All I'm doing is expressing MY First Amendment right to disagree with all three of you. :)
