It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

For over a week now, I have been trying to upgrade my plan to the 50 meg extreme plan with these fools but still no luck. Spoken to over 12 people and am still being given the run around. One department says it's already active, so talk to tech support (click). Tech supports says "sorry no such order in the system", so call back sales.

Yet, accordingly to some VJers, the market should fix this. We are being delayed with the FIOS rollout because of some other dispute with the HOA. Yes, another free-market failure to note. This sort of ####### is regulated against in Aus. Then again it does not even need to be since most companies in Aus would be tripping over themselves trying to connect me up to a $99 internet plan, required for working from home.

I have never spoken to staff (cs reps) who seriously don't give a #######. Comcast's call centers would be fired in any other industry..

LOL this is so funny.. I am sorry you have to put up with them.. is the call center you calling in Manasss? I am in the N. Virginia area also I used to work for comcast. I call it CRAPCAST NOW or COMCRAP. :lol:

i was a tech and people tell me that they always get the run around from CS. I have not really heard of a positive experince from them.

I even went to a place who was not getting his internet and he called a bunch that week before and the other techs told him he has no singal and we cant fix it cause it is maintenance.. main line. he called CS and I spoke with them and they are dumber then a stump. she said she will put in other ticket if you (meaing me the tech ) cant figure out the problem,then she will send someone else out.. I told her, you can send 1000 people out he will get the same anwser.. he is not getting singal from the source..

They are just a bunch of dummies

I wish for your stake I had the corp. number so you can call and complain

I have FIOS now and it is so much better then Crapcast

This is what happens when companies are not regulated or just allowed to grow out of control! In many areas (at least those I've been in) the choices for TV are pay the cable company the rip off fee's or hope you don't have cloudy weather and get a dish.. Phone is the same is you want a land line, pay company X or you don't get anything and that's it. I really hate comcast just the organisation not the people with an absolute passion. They are just big, fat and lazy as a company they have so many bits of the market held hostage who's going to threaten them? They got too big not they'd steamroll the smaller operators. Personally I'd have them broken up into smaller operators get some competition going again.

I gave up all together on comcast and just got naked DSL that was after having to ask for it and getting the.. well we still charge the same price..etc ####### I got naked DSL and I got 10MB for what.. $55 a month and no stupid phone that I didn't need. It's an alright deal I'm not complaining and it's of course dedicated unlike crappy cable that was shared with every downloader on the street during the weekend bringing the bandwidth to a crawl. How am I to liberate the latest movie if everyone else is doing the same? :blink:

It's funny how anyone who has lived overseas gets it. I had 2 cable internet companies, 2 satellite internet companies and over 30 ADSL2+ (24mb) providers to choose from in Melb. I have concast here. My only choice is dialup. We don't even have dsl here as it was some sort of former GTE thing.

Comcast in this area is just unethical and basically no one of their staff gives a #######. They could basically tell me to f'off on the phone and I am sure the supervisors would laugh at it.

Yeah their call center is out of Manassas.

I actually fixed the problem myself. I realized the problem was related to the config file they were sending my modem. He was like nope it's the signal or the modem. So I got him to provision me on the next slower speed, which still uses the same modulation, surprise surprise it worked. Then when he tried it again it worked. I had spoken to 5 "techs" who had not been able to fix it. Who told me it was the signal, a virus, to even Vista.

It took 10 minutes to explain to one guy that unlike XP, vista does not need to be restarted to fix connection problems. A simple disable / enable or repair fixes the issues. I restarted it anyway and the problem still did not go away, he was the 'it's a virus guy'.

Why do these companies hire clueless people? As I predicted, the supervisor and other support staff I mentioned above never bothered calling me back.

unfortunately, this is becoming the norm in the usa. piss poor customer service and the take it or leave it attitude with my isp (hughesnet) really irks me.

I agree, in America we would expect the best? But no.. they are failing in letting these companies rule the roost and shaft the average man/woman on the street. I'm sure if you let comcast compete in Australia or Ireland, UK.. almost any other developed country they'd get hammered into the dirt if they acted the way they do here in the US. I'm not for over regulation or overly having the government in everything but a shakeup and some ground rules are always good. I mean we all drive and most of the time follow the rules we break them there are normally consequences. What comcast is doing is basically like running all the red lights in a tank without fear of being pulled over or any serious damage.

Back home god.. i had a choice of a few dozen ISP's on DSL.. and the same for phone service here it's Embarq or find one of the cell operators that all seem to offer the same type of plan at about around the same price :blink: tell me that isn't wrong and weird.. and maybe stinking of some price fixing lol

A number of companies just don't care as they're monopolies, so they don't need too. How many sat providers are there? As a result, hughes does not care as they know that switching to someone else is expensive. Not to mention you may be in a contract.

As a single consumer you have to take it and like it. For myself until FIOS is cabled, it's either comcast or dialup.

I just bought a netbook.

AT&T or verizon are charging $60 for 5 gig of data or $40 for 200mb. Plus taxes of course, which is another con and will be $6 bucks.

Three in Aus = $13.50 for 1 gig or $26.10 for a 3 gig. More than enough for my netbook. In USD and includes all fess and taxes. Thank you government regulation.

Three in UK = $16.33 for 1 gig or $24.50 for 15 gig. Includes taxes and fees.

It would probably be a good time to move to Australia for superior internet service, not to mention 21 of the 25 most poisonous snakes. How can the US top that?

Geez. I'm repeating myself. Welcome to ComCast. Anyone on the phone doesn't give a sh|t about your service.

OTOH, the service technician does give a sh|t about you and your service - cause it reflects on his performance report.

Since you have HOA issues as well - might be a better thing to get the Comcast Service Tech onboard with servicing yer domicile, even up to the point of plant provisioning..

Seriously - make a new friend, go talk to yer local service tech. Can't find him? Keep Looking!! He's out there somewhere !!

Sure, I miss the high speed service that I had in Singapore. I miss my office fiber in Liverpool.

But I live with Comcast on my farm - and I'm really good buds with my service technician... I suggest that __YOU__ do the same - make a new friend !!!
