Can't officially speak for him but I believe his views iof the 1950s comes from TV and movies that paint the entire era as conservative but somehow the decades before or after were so much better. It's cartoonish but their are those who still believe it especially if they didn't live in that decade.

My recollection of the era is from people who lived then and now. The differences in attitudes and personality alone of these folks speaks for itself. People are self-centered and ruthless now. Not something common from people who lived during that era. It's a different breed now. Simple example, look at photos, at how people treated their communities back then to now. A modern era when the United States of America is plagued with Ghettos and urban blight.

No one can deny the huge liberal movement following the 60's which changed the direction of the US. In my opinion, it's one of the many reasons why countries that did not experience such an equivalent movement, are doing a hell of a lot better than the US now. Never in my life have I heard one person obsess over rights or other similar issues in Aus.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

As mentioned above, Aus is a totally different ball game. Even then, there is a significant change for the worse in the culture of the youth. Just nowhere near as bad as the US.

PS I have traveled (travel) all over the country. Part of the job

Scenario:

Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.

1957 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by the Principal.

Returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.

2007 - Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie.

Tested for ADD. School gets extra money from state

because Jeffrey has a disability.

dont forget that jeffery's family probably receives state funds and services too

what a disservice to poor Jeffery :(

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
