Here you go. This from the Chennai Consulate website. Check the term Police Certificate.

http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/immigrantst...-terms.html#PCC

Apparently NVC got different rules for certain countries.

Hi Everyone.....Here's an answer. I have been doing some research because of the confusion on the PCC's. 'ktdc' and 'Trinket' are correct, It seems that the Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai websites mean precsiely what they say, that you only need PCC from current residence of last 6 months.

Now..the reason for my confusion as well as some others about PCC:

Here in FAM it says pcc for every place lived for more than 6 months:

http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/87393.pdf9

"FAM 9 41.81

(6) Police certificates (in addition to supplying a police certificate from

the present place of residence, the applicant must also present

police certificates from any place or places of residence for 6

months or more since attaining the age of 16"

and here towards bottom of this page it verifies again the above:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

But in HERE it states just pcc from current place of residence:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3582.html

So just follow the PCC requirements you receive from the Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi Embassies.

Cheers!

Dear Vjers family,

First of all wish you all a Happy Diwali :-)

I have a question in regards to PCC in Delhi. My fiance is currently living in Delhi but he is from Siliguri. He has been living in Delhi for over three years so my question is Does he have to get PCC from district, local and passport office? He did get one from Siliguri but does he have to get one from Delhi local police office and passport office? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very very much.

Third

Don't just read it please give suggestions :)

hi i hope my answer helps you...well i am from darjeeling and i lived in delhi for three years(2001-2004).i got a PCC from Kolkatta passport office and then a Pcc from delhi.i lived in dhaula juan so I fell under the R.K.Puram police station....usually takes about a week or more depending what kinda person is handling ur paperwork.

i got a pcc from Dajeeeling but i had to pay a fee to the superintendent of darjeeling payable in siliguri.

Basically you need to get a PCC from only those places where you lived for more than 6 months after the age of 18.in ur case get one from delhi, siliguri, and the passport office in kolkatta(they stamp your passport, saying u r clear to receive a visa)There is no such thing as getting a pcc from district.

I hope this helps...i got my pcc on dec 2009.

My wife is trying to get kolkata passport office to issue a PCC. She submitted all the documents to get it in the beginning of june. they kept saying it's not uploaded to their website yet. Now they are saying they don't have the information still, and im sure my wife's interview is in december.

Is there any way to speed them up? or any way to just waive that requirement?

Is your wife from Calcutta? So am I. PCC from RPO should maximum take 1 month. Ask her to pursue relentlessly. I requested mine on Monday. They said it'll take 10-30 days.

She's living in Sikkim, but Kolkata is the RPO for Sikkim.

They are such dogs over there, first when she went there they told her she had to submit in some local office in Singtam. She submitted in Singtam, it got forwarded to gangtok court and they issued some verification papers. They did 2 originals - kept one and shipped the other to kolkata.

Kolkata just claims they never receive it, Gangtok and Singtam gave my wife signature proof that they did submit it.

She tried to get them to resubmit it to kolkata but they just keep saying they submitted it already and they wont resubmit it.

Did your wife's PCC get sorted out?

I got mine from the Calcutta RPO in 4 working days. (8 days since request).

Add the local PCC, might help the process go faster.

Hi,

So what is the conclusion of the post for PCC requirement?

1) One PCC from RPO office and one from the local Police station ?

OR

2) One PCC from RPO office and n number of PCCs from the local Police stations where you lived for more then six months since the age of sixteen ?

I am a Indian citizen and living in Punjab (India) and my Wife is a USC now.

I lived in 4,5 different places in India for more then six months for my education and job postings.

I used to come to my permanent residence (which is mentioned on my passport) on weekly/fortnightly basis.

My all correspondence comes to my permanent address only.

We have applied for my immigration under F2A category two years back when my wife was a LPR and all these places where i lived for more then six months ware mentioned in my G325A.

Now I130 is approved and my wife is a USC and upgrading I130 to IR1/CR1. Our case will be further processed by New Delhi consulate/Embassy

As part of required documents for DS230 I am going to get one PCC from regional RPO office and one from the Police station serving my permanent residence.

now my questions are:

Is that sufficient to have these two PCCs ?

OR

i need to get PCCs from all the governing Police stations where i lived from more then six months ?

( i don't know if somebody will recognize my now at those places)

Please clear my confusion.

Thanx & Regards,

Ajay.

My 2nd passport has been issued by the Indian Embassey in Texas, USA.

Currently I am in India. QUE: Do I have to get a PCC from Indian Embassey in Texas OR PASSPORT OFFICE IN AHMEDABAD will issue PCC. It doesn't matter in this case that my passport has been issued at USA!!! right ? WHO DO I HAVE TO CONTACT TO GET PCC ?

Thanks,

Place of ISSUE does not MATTER. The PASSPORT OFFICE that has jurisdiction over your current residence is the one that will issue your PCC. My wife place of residence was different from where she got her passport when she first applied. The passport office made us change the address in the passport to the current residence and then they issued us the PCC eventhough that was not the intial place of issue.
