Dear Vjers family,

First of all wish you all a Happy Diwali :-)

I have a question in regards to PCC in Delhi. My fiance is currently living in Delhi but he is from Siliguri. He has been living in Delhi for over three years so my question is Does he have to get PCC from district, local and passport office? He did get one from Siliguri but does he have to get one from Delhi local police office and passport office? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you very very much.

PCC of passport will have to be from the district his passport has been issued from, so if his passport was issued at Siliguri, that's where he will have to get the Passport PCC, but if his passport was issued from Delhi then he will have to get it from Delhi office.

As for Police PCC, he will only have to get it from his current residency, that is in this case is Delhi.

Thank you Trinket. :-) Do you know how long it will take for the passport office and for the residency to give PCC?

Yes, he should get PCC from anywhere (City, State, Country) he's lived for more than 6 months from time he was age 16. Any less than that, no he does not. It's very specific.

No you don't! Please don't confuse people. It is impossible to get a PCC from every single place you lived in India since you are 16. Check one of the websites for the Indian regional consulates.

ktdc is right, please don't confuse people. 2 PCC are needed, one from the district which issued Indian passport and another from the police station where the applicant is living currently.

About how long will it take to get PCC, it truly depends upon district to district, in my case it took exact 1 month, but I have seen others from Delhi or other places in north where it took only a few days.

It is verified below what I've been saying all along.

I think what kloveh is saying is true. That's what I've read as well. PCC's from EVERY place you've lived in for more than a period of 6 months after attaining the age of 16. The language is pretty specific. For me, it was okay. Because I lived in Calcutta since birth till age 18. Was in the U.S. for 4 years and now I'm back in Calcutta since June. Thankfully, they do their own police certification for residency within the U.S.

Im confused on one thing,

It said on here - http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3582.html

Applicants must get a passport PCC. They can only present the passport certificate if they got their passport within 6 months.

Applicants who has their passport over 6 months will need a passport clearance certificate from their local police station.

My wife got her passport a year ago, does this mean that they need both her passport certificate and police station one or do they only need the one from the local police station???

See "About Me" for full timeline.

Baltar -- if you/your wife's passport is WITHIN the last 6 months (that is, it was issued after April 23) then you only need a PCC from the local police station. A passport obtained before 6 months will require a PCC from the regional passport office that issued the passport.

I was advised to first get the PS PCC and then submit that to the RPO. The second part will then take less time since they already have one, hopefully clean, PCC to go off of. Their enquiry will not take that much time then. Hope this helps.

Here you go. This from the Chennai Consulate website. Check the term Police Certificate.

http://chennai.usconsulate.gov/immigrantst...-terms.html#PCC

Apparently NVC got different rules for certain countries.
