I don't think any of us can predict the USPS for you. I did notice when I sent my last package to them in August, there were no updates at all on the website until it'd actually been delivered. A lot of folks do priority but there's no way you HAVE to send it. You just have to take whatever waiting times come with the class you chose. Priority and overnight are faster than first, but first still isn't slow.

It also depends on where you are and where you're mailing it to (looks like Vermont - but from where?). You've sent it certified so I sincerely doubt it's lost.

Worst case scenario, if they don't get it, resend it (I presume you made an exact copy of what you sent, as this website suggests?).

ETA: if you have no patience, this process will absolutely be the death of you. So finding some patience is probably a good idea...!

I sent it from Houston, TX. I dunno why its taking forever. I have no problem with patience. Me and my fiance have been apart for the past 5 and a half years. So I think the eagerness of seeing each other is whats cuasing this impatientness. I am just worried if the USCIS received it or not. I dont mind resending the package all over again but that also means that my cashiers check is gone right?

Do you mean you haven't seen your fiance in 5 1/2 years? If so, that's going to be a problem. If not, ignore this.

I met him for 9 days in July when we got engaged.. we saw each other after 5 and a haf yeras.. so i had enough proof that we did see each other.. and we have on going relationship... so i hope that isnt a problem them right?

practice patience.

that's why this website is call 'VISA JOURNEY'

" a traveling from one place to another, usually taking a rather long time; trip: a six-day journey across the desert. "

It will take longer than you think.

good luck

You saw him this past July? Then you're golden. :) I was concerned that perhaps you hadn't seen him for 5 1/2 years, because then you would not meet the requirement for the I-129f of meeting within 2 years. I'm glad to hear that isn't the case. Good luck! And sorry to have alarmed you, if I did.

Hi Shabz,

Has it been 5 1/2 years since you last saw your fiance? If so, it will be a problem if you don't have a very very very very very very very good reason for this, please tell me that you did send them a letter explaining why you have not met, and the circumstances that did'nt allow you to meet within the last two years.

It took me about a 1 1/2 weeks to receive my NOA 1. Don't worry, and find the patience within you cause this process is ever so non-transparent, and it will eat you alive if you worry too much.

Your cashiers check is not necessarily gone as long as you did'nt throw away it's receipt. Give it another week to 1.5 weeks for the NOA 1 to show up.

Good Luck

I was kind of like you where I was getting worked up and crazy about why it's taking so long.. But, then I decided that I'm just going to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best... (it's working so far)...

USPS is not great in updating their website. I had a package delivered and the people told me they had it and the website still listed as being in the post office I mailed it from. They do not scan as well as UPS or DHL. As far as patience goes, you are goning to need some more. Waiting 5 or 6 days is nothing compared to waiting 5-6 MONTHS. This is not a short process.

So it has been 4 days since I mailed out my I-129F and I know that it's normal to freak out but seriously I have no patience. I just want to know if USCIS received it. I have no update on my tracking information on USPS website. I have called customer service and no help from them. I did FIrst class mail, certified with a return receipt. WAs it a mistake to do it first class mail? SHould I have done express, priority or maybe FedEX? I seriously was just crying like 10 mins ago thinking that its lost somewhere and USCIS never received it. There is no tracking update at all on my pcakge. All there is that it was accepted at the location i dropped the package off. Is it normal to take this long to receive something? I read taht a lot of people got their NOA in like 4-5 days and here I am and my package hasn't even reached Vermont. Really frustrated and upset. I am sorry for people reading this an thinking its a waste of time to even read this post. Once again my apologies.

4 days? You are in serious trouble. Go to your garage and get the duct tape and wrap your head in it. By the time 5 months comes and goes your head will explode and you will want to keep all the pieces.

Did you use confirmation of delivery? Did you use a personal check? If you did you will have all the information the NOA1 will give you much sooner. Go to the top of the forum to the pinned topic and read what a director at VSC just filled me in on today. Take a bottle of chill pills and relax.

USPS won't update their delivery status until after it arrives and the carrier checks back in with the delivery notice. For what it is worth, anything sent certified takes longer to get where it is going. It is considered their most secure delivery method - but it is definitely not their fastest. It will get there, don't worry - but it may take a bit longer because of being certified.

You will be getting your NOA1 soon. Sometimes it just takes awhile for them to get sent out. You most likely do not need to worry about it yet, but I completely understand as I am the same way. I just want to know that everything has been taken care of. What I found during our journey is that this is a process that is mostly out of my control. I just tried to focus on building a stronger relationship with my fiance, and preparing things for his arrival. We were apart for 15 years before getting together again and becoming engaged earlier this year. It is definitely hard, but you can be strong and make it especially after having waited for so long. It seems like the approvals are starting to move faster now, so that is good news for you. Good luck in the rest of your journey. This website is the best place to find support and guidance. I don't know what I would have done without the people on VJ. I am sure in the next couple of days you will be writing to tell us that you have received your letter. :star:

sorry to hear that! i was having the same concerns not too long ago. However, i just found out they received it! Just call the bank that issued your cashiers check for the application fee. Then ask them to transfer you to the department that can track whether or not the cashiers check has been paid to the recipient. They'll need some info from you, like the date issued, the amount, etc....they should be able to give you a date as to when the check was paid to the USCIS....if/when you find out that the check was cashed/paid out, then you should be all good (it obviously means they received your petition papers!)......next step is to wait for the NOA1 hard copy in the mail =) once that comes in, its time for the even LONGER waiting period for the NOA2 =/ have faith and be patient, we'll get there...good luck to you!

Thank you all very much for your sweet and really awesome support. I know its a long journey as everyone on here has experienced or is experiencing it. I am praying for the best. I just checked USPS website and no update as of yet. I guess they aren't very reliable when it comes to updating. But I am praying and gonna look into checking if my cashiers check has been paid out or not. I really appreciate everyone for their kind words. AS soon as i get my NOA 1 believe after my fiance it will be VJ that will be getting the good news. as we say in Arabic INSHALLAH (IN Gods Will).. that they have gotten it and it I will be getting good news any day now.

You're gonna be ok. I remember feeling like you when I sent my petition. It just takes some time with these things and it's hard not to obsess about. If you have time, look at the immigration time time lines on VJ and it will give you a generalized picture of when you can expect things to happen. Not %100 but it helps. Hope you get your NoA soon!
