VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS SECOND PART OF THE PROCESS. FOR ANYONE WHO HAS RECENTLY BEEN THROUGH. I KNOW IN JAMAICA, ITS REQUIRED TO GET A CERTIFICATE OF NON IMPEDIMENT TO MARRY FROM THE RGD, HOW SOON CAN WE GO ABOUT DOING THAT, DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR PACKET 4 FROM THE EMBASSY, OR IS THERE A VALIDITY TIME FRAME ON IT. JUST WANT SOME FEEDBACK FROM PERSON WHO JUST DID THIS, TO SEE WHAT YOUR EXPERIENCES WERE LIKE.. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Well I am still going through the process but we already have the non impediment, I suggest you get that now than wait till later to get everything....its less hassle when interview time comes along!

Things he can get now:

No-impediment

Police record

Passport (if he doesn't already have one)

Shots - He can wait until the medical, but it may be cheaper to get them in advance at another location

Optional, but may come in handy once he's here:

Letter of recommendation from current/past employers

School completion certificate

Also, you can have him sign the DS230pt1 so that you can scan it and have an electronic copy ready to go as soon as the embassy receives & processes your case. See the checklist in Packet 3 to know what all to gather. The documents in Packet 3 are posted in a thread I started. I'll go bump it.

Agree with Nat, the non-impediment took us a week to get.
