I received our Notice of Approval from the Vermont Service Center dated September 3. The letter stated that our case was being sent to the National Visa Center and should be processed and sent overseas within 2-4 weeks. Well, 6 weeks have passed and nothing has happened. Even more troubling is that when I call the National Visa Center they say that they have no record of our case, meaning that they haven't even received it yet. How is this possible? How do I know if it was lost in the mail or they entered the data incorrectly. They say that I should wait 90 days and check back in! I am so confused and upset. Does anyone know what's going on? I need my fiance here since without him I am a single mom to our son, and it's killing me!! Please help!

Hey! Sorry for your frustration, but unfotunately, that's just the way the NVC works. Wait 90 days before you worry. They suck at customer service too! Hold tight...there's nothing you can do.

I got relatively lucky - less than two weeks to NVC. However, there are plenty of people who have had to wait much longer. It is infuriating considering how geografically close the two places are! Hold tight and call a lot!

P.S. The good news is that the Embassy in San Jose schedules interviews really quickly - usually within two weeks. I have electronic copies of the K3 instructions, which I believe are essentially the same for the K1. I am happy to send these to you. That way, your fiance can be working on getting everything done that he needs to - namely blood test, X-ray and medical exam. Just PM me your email address and I'll send. If your fiance works on this stuff now, when they call him to pick up the hard copy of the packet, he can take all these docs and schedule the interview while he is there. (The only thing he will need the physical packet for is the criminal history, but he can get that in half a day or less.)

Hmmmm...

Did you call USCIS hotline, inquire about case status?

K-1 petitions don't spend much time at NVC - I know you called them already - but when you called NVC - did you try the AVR or did you get to a human? If you got the AVR, try getting a human, and asking for status again.

FWIW, K-1 petitions have NO AVR 'feedback' at NVC.

I'm hoping yer not in a namecheck anywhere !!!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Try visiting both your senators and ask them to get involved, if nothing else, it will help you knowing that you are doing everything possible to get him here... I feel your frustration.
