marmite and vegemite are disgusting and should best be avoided - my husband has a "marmite knife" (much like we have a "cat food fork") so that I never have to sully my tastebuds with that flavor again.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Marmite and cottage cheese sandwiches, mmmmmm yummy! :D

What's a marmite? Sounds like a small rodent.

Marmite is a yeast extract and it's delicious! Cheese on toast with marmite is sooo good. It looks a bit like road tar.

Australians have vegemite instead of marmite, but marmite's better *hiding from the aussies*

I just checked out their website. You've got me curious enough to try it! Now I'm wondering where I'll be able to find it here in the states - especially in So. Cali.

You can get it mail order from the british shops http://www.britishdelights.com/marmite.htm

A dollop of marmite is good in gravy too on roast dinners!

Cheddar cheese and jam sandwich.

(Carryover from the slice of cheese with pie thing.)

The other things I eat that have been considered "weird" here are actually British in nature so they don't count.

I love cheese and jam sandwiches

My mom used to eat sugar and butter sandwiches when she was younger. It's not too strange but it couldn't be good for you.

Interesting, my dad used to make these things called butter lump sandwiches and also put sugar on them. He grew up in South Dakota.

I actually tried one of those modified "Elvis" sandwiches once, peanut butter/honey/bacon/banana fried in butter in a skillet. It was delicious but way too lethal for regular consumption.

I've just stopped doing that! I weened myself off ketchup and now have to have mint sauce, horseradish or just something to dip into.

Mayo, Ranch or BBQ sauce is a must with fries and now my husbands hooked on it too.

mmm Walkers cheese & onion crisps with marmite on a fresh buttered roll.

Also, if you are in the South Bay area, there's a shop on Torrance Blvd in Torrance called The British Connection. Or at least there was six months or so ago. I haven't been there in a while. A bit pricey but the owners are really nice. They have haggis and black pudding too. Blech

It looks like they are online.
