Anybody else combine foods that make others look at you like you're strange?

Bacon and peanut butter sandwiches?

Spaghetti with maple syrup?

mustard in your mac and cheese?

I like to put Doritos inside my sandwich - makes it soft yet crunchy.

when i make macaroni and cheese from scratch, my recipe calls for a little mustard in the sauce.. nothing strange about that....

Girl I worked with swore by sardines (not in any sauce tho) with ginger cake (I know. lol) 9.gif

I eat raw cauliflower with my salads cos its GORGEOUS! I don't see that as strange tho.

hey.. you will love it in the states.. most salad bars include raw cauliflower as a salad ingredient... you are perfectly normal! raw broccoli as well

I use ketchup on EVERYTHINg.

I also make "pancakes" using eggs and ricotta cheese. (It's a South Beach thing) - strange, but delish.

for years I have made pancakes in the blender with eggs, cottage cheese and a little flour.. they are very nice... a bit like crepes. I need to check out the ricotta cheese recipe!

if you aren't on a diet - I wouldn't. They aren't THAT great but when you are on South Beach it's that or just plain eggs.

blech

if you want it

2 eggs

1/4 cup ricotta cheese

1/2 T of baking powder (or 1? don't remember)

Cinamon and nutmeg to taste.

Use whisk to make super smooth and light and fluffy.

Marmite and cottage cheese sandwiches, mmmmmm yummy! :D

What's a marmite? Sounds like a small rodent.

Marmite is a yeast extract and it's delicious! Cheese on toast with marmite is sooo good. It looks a bit like road tar.

Australians have vegemite instead of marmite, but marmite's better *hiding from the aussies*

http://www.marmite.com/love/squeezy/

I just checked out their website. You've got me curious enough to try it! Now I'm wondering where I'll be able to find it here in the states - especially in So. Cali.

marmite and vegemite are disgusting and should best be avoided - my husband has a "marmite knife" (much like we have a "cat food fork") so that I never have to sully my tastebuds with that flavor again.

Vegemite is also a yeast spread? Hmmm... how close or different do they taste from each other?

Okay I have to agree with Shon some weird stuff on here. :P

When I was pregnant I craved glazed donuts and sweet pickles together. I guess that is the weirdest combination I have. :P

Hee, it's funny Shon. I feel the same way about peanuts and peanut butter. When my dad made sandwiches for my siblings and I to take to lunch there would be some times when I couldn't eat them, because I could taste that he'd used the same knife that he'd used to make peanut butter sandwiches for my brother.

But I do quite like Marmite on toast every so often. For me, the trick is to use lots of butter and use the Marmite sparingly, otherwise I find it way too strong.
