Wow, the Visajourney people are really great, and someone pointed out on a recent post that the AOS fee for my step daughter is only $600 (versus the $1010 for my wife) as she is only 9 years old. Is this true? If so, where does it say that in the USCIS forms?

Also, if when applying, there is some problem in my application (such as paying the wrong amount, or leaving out something by accident, does USCIS send an RFE like in the K1 process? My guess is probably, however, I'm not sure.

Thanks!

K

Correct - $600 if filing with the parent's I-485 or $930 if filed after the parent. USCIS Fee Schedule

From the I-485 Instructions: "Applicants under 14 years of age: - Filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $600 - Not filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $930 "

Also, if when applying, there is some problem in my application (such as paying the wrong amount, or leaving out something by accident, does USCIS send an RFE like in the K1 process? My guess is probably, however, I'm not sure. More than likely - the package would be rejected (sent back to you) and you'd have to resend it with correct payment.

It says this on the instructions for the I-485. IF the child is under age 14 and IF the petition is filed consurrently with the parent, the fee is $600. Each person needs their own I-485 and their own I-864 from you.

You can get an RFE OR they can ask you to bring something to the AOS interview, depends on what you forget. If you send the worng amount, they will immediately reject the applications and send them back for you to pay the correct amount and re-file.
