Let's make it easy. Post questions you were asked in a job interview and the answer you gave. This is to help those who are terrible in job interviews and need help.

I haven't interviewed for a job in awhile but I do interview applicants (not much as of late with the hiring situation being what it is). The only advice I can offer is to be positive and be yourself. If those two don't mix, you're in a tough spot.

Honestly, though, I am all over the map when interviewing candidates. The canned advice from books won't work when you talk to me. I rather have people being thoughtful with their responses, pausing before answering and make the answer relevant to the question than spitting out some blurb that they read would be the right answer. I read those books and know when I get a canned response.

Oh, one more thing: do think about your weaknesses and be prepared to present a couple of them in a positive light. Most applicants get stuck when asked for their three major weaknesses. Everyone is good about their strengths but the weaknesses - politically correct terms in an interview would be potential or opportunity for improvement - is something that nobody seems to be prepared to talk about.

When I was terrible at job interviews, I found it helped when I treated it like a meeting and not just a venue for him/her to ask me questions and me to answer. It's not Jeopardy, it's a meeting. The objective is to find out whether you make a good candidate and whether the company/department would make a good employer. You both have interests and your job is to promote your interests and help the person you're speaking to figure out how you play into his/hers.

Just a business meeting between equals. Take out the intimidation factor. You'll do much better if you can mind-game yourself to get there.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Practice with mock interviews - but as Dog said, not with stock answers, just with the format of answering and having the confidence to say positive things about yourself that are relevant to the postion applied for and truthful or at least as truthful as is required to pefrom the job.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Great advice. I try to find out as much about the company as I can before the interview.

The worst interviews I've had were by phone - conference call with 2 people on the other end. The silent pauses made me more anxious. I'd rather have a face to face interview.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

lie

It was resolved through analyzing what my (Nessa's) responsibility for the misunderstanding (do not say FAULT, or CONFLICT, or PROBLEM), and proposing steps to avoid it in the future. :)
