I just walked into the commons at school and everyone is standing around the TVs watching this. It looks kinda fun. Apparently they have blackhawk helicopters following it now.

They can probably lower someone down on a harness to get the kid and bring down the balloon after that.

CNN) -- Officials are concerned that a 6-year-old boy who drifted away in a homemade helium balloon on Thursday may already have fallen out of it, an undersheriff said.

Margie Martinez of the Weld County Sheriff's Office said a sibling saw Falcon Heene climb into the basket before the balloon took off from his parents' Fort Collins, Colorado home.

Since the door on the balloon was unlocked, it's possible the boy had fallen out, Martinez said.

The balloon appeared to be a saucer-shaped, Mylar-coated helium balloon, similar to a party balloon. The craft was drifting eastward, authorities said.

Dunno but they said it was travelling about 25mph and reached as much as 8000ft

Looks like the child also demands his 15 minutes of fame.

I hope he is okay and is hiding somewhere after releasing the balloon. If not, those parents have a LOT to answer for.

I remember those weirdos! Not surprising this has happened, based on knowing who the parents are. I feel sp terrible for that poor kid.
