I am a bit nervous for my guy... Although we have been married for over 6 years... he has lived on a ship for the past 19 years!!! Since he was 17 and finished school he has worked onboard ships (14 yrs with Carnival Cruises, 2 years Italian Navy and 3 yrs petroleum ships)... So he basically has NEVER lived on land. He has no idea about shopping and has had a cabin steward that cleans up after him...

His schedule used to be 4-5 months onboard and 1-2 months off and we would stay some here and some in Italy. I have tried to get him some idea of living on land, but we are not here for more than say 3 weeks in a row!!! Luckily, his new job will still be with ships, just 3-4 days out fixing stuff, then 3-5 days home... coming and going I think will be a REAL blessing so he doesent get too bored and we wont drive each other crazy!

But without a doubt, it will be a big adjustment... for both of us!

I have already taken him to all the Disney parks, Grand Canyon, Vegas etc... But I think I will enjoy letting him tend to my little garden.. That will be new for him!

Great inputs people.....I really appreciate the responses...whats the first place you would take him or her out at....she loves rollercosters so I think magic mountains where she is going first....i know its bit crazy but yeah.....hehe...

thats cool!

there's not a ton of things to see in Louisville. But he was happy to see everything that I had been seeing and talking about for almost 2 years lol

If youre close enough to go to magic mountain and she likes rollercoasters, how about knotts berry farm or universal studios too? you have tons to show her :D (I grew up in OC :P )

I LOVED Knotts Berry Farm as a kid, I was born in Oceanside, and spent many weekends there!!!

i still miss knotts SCARY farm in October :D

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Holy ####### Paris... you got your October interview??

How'd you swing that sweet deal? I swear to god, I'm going to relocate to France or something like that. It's been over 9 weeks and we haven't heard a peep yet. None of us Canadians have. NO K1s or CR/IR1s. It's scary.

Congratulations -- it means you guys get to be together SOON! That's amazing...

Sorry I missed that, I have been staying out of these places as hearing about people who finished way after I did getting an interview in the space of a week or two really bums me out.

Am happy for everyone but just dont' want to have to deal with it, ya know???

Mine's not here yet but I know he'll be fine! Not much different from Finland...

All I know is for now, hubby can be here the latest Nov. 6th, and Im scared to death now!!! UGH!!!!! We fight, cry, find the strength in us for this disneyland journey, and its right under my nose now of having hubby here, and I truly dont know what to do now.

Lgg, just when you think all hope is lost, it will happen for you. Just try to be patient! I will say a special prayer for you :)

Im glad this topic is here. My sweetie is coming 11/3 and since he will be coming in on a late flight, I figured the first night we'd stay at a hotel and just enjoy each other! (L)

That sounds niiiice....

My baby has stayed with me for 3 months in my mom's spare room, with thin walls...

3 months in Germany, an apartment of our own, but with memories of my first marriage at every turn,

and then in HIS mum's spare room, again with the thin walls!

He is so excited to come "home" to the Northwest, and really make my little crappy old 70's deco cheap apartment a home. I'm excited to see him in an environment that's all our own together.

I'm scared to death that he'll never find a job or be able to make money though... I just hope he finds a career to get passionate about, if it was only a quarter of the passion he has for me and a future family with me, then he'll be the most successful man on the planet... I'm lucky in the fact that the only thing missing in my life when he gets here will be money. Everything else I have found, and am especially blessed to have done so.

With that note, we won't be staying in hotels, or going out anywhere. In fact, I'll only have one more day off this year because of the visit I took to see him in April. We're broke, but soon we'll have eachother!

Breakfast in bed, and romantic bowls of ramen noodles! (no more beans on toast for this englishman! He needs to learn AMERICAN cheap food. BEANS! HA! silly Brits.)

Ya, I have been in Louisville for omg! 12 years now. Its a nice and easy place to live. Hopefully he is in a larger city :) Louisville is not too big but big enough to have a "metro" feel.

I hope you guys are together very soon. (F)
