Well, I read this thread in it's entirety, and I know it's only 6:57 a.m. and I'm sipping my second cup of coffee, and I'm 51 and my menopausal memory sucks, but wth is BWI?

Well, cars are expensive in the city because you have to pay to park them. Either by paying a monthly fee at a garage, buying a spot with a condo, or paying extra on top of an apartment. Also, driving into the city everyday would also require paying for parking, which isn't cheap in any city I've lived in. Insurance also varies depending on where you live, doesn't it? I know my husband paid like 1/3 of the price of insurance when he was away at college than he does now that we live in NYC (not sure about Canada to be honest though).

When there is an option to take the subway/bus for $89/month (or $109 in Toronto)... in comparison a car is expensive... that's what I meant!

But you are right, it is also expensive to have a car outside of the city because of the mileage and gas since everything is further apart.

This is true, I do park my car for free at my house. But I have to pay for parking at work ($400.00 a year currently)

Insurance costs are more based upon the accidents where you live, then just where you live. If you live in a place that has a higher rate of accidents/person, then your insurance is going to be higher than a place that has a lower ration of accidents to people. New York City actually has it good in terms of insurance since so many people take public transit. New Jersey isn't all that bad either depending on where you live of course. I live in the boonies and say I drive 5 miles to work every day so my costs stay low.

Plus, like you say, you'd have to be CRAZY to not take public transit if you live in a city. We are thinking about moving to a suburb outside of NY and I would get rid of my car instantly, and it's not even a big city.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Baltimore's airport. :)

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

Go Ravens!!!

My offer to drive still stands, your seat options just became more limited.

Ravens fans options include the spacious trunk. =P

HA!!!!!!!

YOu just made me laugh out LOUD!!!

I was planning on wearing the jersey I got last time I was there.

Little secret for you all? My love of the Ravens is partly due to affiliation BUT I love the fact that an NFL football team is named after a great literary reference.

But the Raven, sitting lonely on that placid bust, spoke only

That one word, as if its soul in that one word he did outpour

Nothing farther then he uttered; not a feather then he fluttered--

Till I scarcely more than muttered: "Other friends have flown before--

On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before."

Then the bird said "Nevermore."

I am not sure I believe the team name came from the poem.

Even if it did, the Ravens are still bitter rivals of my Steelers, so.. ya know... can't really like 'em. :)

I bet you a 5 spot that the name DOES come from the Poem. Edgar Allen Poe lived in Baltimore....

Thus... the Ravens...

5 spot. Bet. Do it!

Steelers, eh? We were in a restaurant in W.Virginia one time and some guy had the Steelers Logo TATTOOED on his arm. Was that you?

Were you eating all the grits?

I don't forgive you.

I will have to do more research, but it appears you may be right.

It does indeed, to properly insult someone who you've pwnd, you can go a step further and go "QQ more nub".

Or to congratulate yourself there's always the "GG" (good game - sarcastic implication that I suck).

The most popular new one seems to be derivatives of "Cool story bro", "Excellent tale mate", <any variation you like here> to mock someone's story as being useless/dumb/ignorable/ect.

Gamer lingo is fun. Eventually plebs catch up to us and we have to make up new lingo.
