YOu made me laugh out loud at work!!!!!

I am a frog already (French) and I play the flute and can hum pretty well?

(No wise*ss comments about that)....

Just so you know, Varba says you have to dress up in a frog costume and play the banjo, otherwise he wouldn't recognize you.

Yeah, BWI is like an hour and a bit from where I live.. hit up Peachey. We can try to help you out.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

Um... you know what's weird? BWI is actually about an hour from where our actual domicile is. I have this sneaking suspicion that we might live near each other....

You know we should do? We should start VJ Canada to USA Carpooling groups. Like there has to be a significant number of people here who drive and maybe, if they want to or feel like it, they could post a thread saying, driving here in this date, coming back this date from here to there kind of thing?

I dunno? Is that dumb? I can't tell you the number of times I wish I knew someone who lived in my general area and was going to the same state I was and could drop me off somewhere. Pay for gas, ###### about NVC and such...

I dunno....

Just sayin'...

two other options that i've checked into before, and they sometimes actually work -- craigslist rideshare or couchsurfing.org ... way better than hitchhiking, you might even find people who are also wanting to go and would pitch in for the rental car to go one way.

Niagara Airbus? I don't know how far north they go, but I know a lot of people who have taken it and apparently its pretty reliable. Of course, if you're traveling alone it probably wouldn't be very cost effective. In all honesty I've only taken public transportation a couple times in my lifetime... Which is a product of being from a small town where the buses don't run very often and stops are few and far between. If I needed to get to the airport my dad would always take me so I could avoid the parking fees. You can also walk across the border in Niagara Falls... I don't know how efficient taking a bus to the falls, walking across and then catching another bus could be, but in my experiences there are basically no wait times when you're walking in.

I can't say much for taking a bus to Buffalo, but I can tell you that using the Buffalo airport is a million times easier, faster and cheaper than flying through Pearson. I pretty much swear by it.

Ain't that the truth.

The train from Toronto to Buffalo is super cheap, though.

You don't drive?

Cars are expensive in the city

Actually, cars are more expensive if you live outside the city and commute. I put almost a thousand miles on my car a week. It takes a lot of hits and the repairs are probably more than if you drove ten minutes a day in the city due to the mileage, not to mention the gas?

Also, cars are the same price really whether you live in Toronto or Markham..the price doesn't change.

Lgg, sounds like a good plan. I used to take a shuttle to BUF all the time to get that cheaper flight.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Well, cars are expensive in the city because you have to pay to park them. Either by paying a monthly fee at a garage, buying a spot with a condo, or paying extra on top of an apartment. Also, driving into the city everyday would also require paying for parking, which isn't cheap in any city I've lived in. Insurance also varies depending on where you live, doesn't it? I know my husband paid like 1/3 of the price of insurance when he was away at college than he does now that we live in NYC (not sure about Canada to be honest though).

When there is an option to take the subway/bus for $89/month (or $109 in Toronto)... in comparison a car is expensive... that's what I meant!

But you are right, it is also expensive to have a car outside of the city because of the mileage and gas since everything is further apart.
