that's wayyyyy more than enough ?!?!

hmmm, odd.

I don't mean to repeat things, just to make sure...

You've completed the I-864?

Your joint sponsor also completed I-864, not I-864A? If both of these are a yes, and you've verified that the joint sponsor meets the income qualifications, then I would follow up w/ another e-mail to the consulate requesting clarification as to why they're requesting the I-864A from the joint sponsor's spouse.

you are not repeating things, really talking to you guys here is the only thing keeping me from going berserk so THANK YOU.

I completed the i864 with a letter attached as to why i don't file taxes because i am in school and do not work. then i had a relative help us out, and he also filled out an i864... the CO told us it was perfect at the interview.i don't know why this is happening now ?! the joint sponsor compleyed the i864, NOT i864a. u have everything understood correctly but it just does not make sense at all !

since they wont answer you and they requested it, just send it in... if they want it, for WHATEVER the reason, give it to them.

The cosponsor meets the requirements so you shouldnt have reason to worry. Just give them what they want.

Good Luck

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Wait, you're saying your joint sponsor is a relative of yours? What box did he check on question 1 of I-864?

I am only guessing here, but they may be asking for her to fill one out since they file jointly.

could be you're right.

but just so, it would be nice to know why it is being requested.

FreeJ...since there's no help for it, you should just fill out the I-864a since the consulate has requested it, and perhaps you can ask the why when you turn in said form.

I've read elsewhere about NVC requesting information from the other spouse when a joint return is sent in. Who knows though, they seem to want one thing from one person, and another from someone else.

As Minya said, FJ, I'd just have the wife fill out the information and send it in. Sometimes you've just got to pick your battles.

Best wishes to you. Please let us know how it turns out for you.
