Travelling to the States whilst visa pending

We are going to be sending DS 230 part 1 and DS2001 this Friday 16th. We are travelling to USA on 22 October(next Thursday) and a little worried about 2 things.

1. We are not planning on staying in the States permanently on this visit, but my husband has a week's worth of work and we want to visit my family so they can see our new addition. Will it be a problem with immigration when we get to Chicago?

2. How soon will the interview be if we send the forms this Friday 16th? Does anyone know what date the London Embassy are currently setting up interviews for?

Filed: Other Country: Denmark
Timeline

visiting typically isn't a problem (we did it, coming from Denmark). Just in case we had a copy of our house lease in denmark and a copy of the I-130 that we filed to show we had no illegal immigration intention, but of course they didnt even ask. we came into the country twice while waiting for my husband's visa, and neither time did they ask anything other than how long he would be here. i think it helps if the USC goes through the immigration line with their spouse rather than going separately through the visitor line and USC line.

Thanks for that. My husband and I were sweating bullets over this, but it has put our mind at ease. We are going to bring the letter we got from my oldest son's school to say that he could be out of school x amount of days, our i-130, a letter from my husband's boss to say that he is due back to work on 9th November, the receipt from the kennel were we are boarding our dog's for the 2 weeks we are gone.

Hopefully that will do it.

Just in case anyone else is worried about entering the US whilst visa is pending. We had no trouble whatsoever! Not even one question about immigrating when we landed in Chicago.

We had more trouble getting back into the UK with my 4 month old duel-citizenship baby because he was travelling back into the UK on his US passport instead of a UK passport which we haven't got yet. He is now on a 6 month tourist visa.
