What did the consulate say about it?

NOTHING!

Actually the consulate DOES state on the website that if the original language is in Russian, it does NOT need to be a certified translation.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Sri, not related to the first discussion.

My intention was NOT to compare Apples to Oranges. My intention was to highlight how some people like to make every process more complicated than it already is. It is my belief that if everything is on the Up-And-Up when you deal with the government, there should not be unexpected surprises, or extra requirements that should not be necessary.

Let me give you a PEARS example: when trying to apply for a special access to a government project I was asked for my entire history of foreign travel, or else "my application would never be approved." I will never remember my entire history of foreign travel/affiliations, so I gave only what I remembered about the most recent 10 years. My application was approved without questions, even though the public servant who received it did not even want to process it because it was "incomplete."

People, use common sense if you do not know the right answer to one of those gray areas. Do you think that the consular officer has time in 5 minutes to read or even look at 200 pages of chat logs, for example? These "suggestions" that some people offer make me cringe. They are just a waste of time for everyone involved and of money to the people paying for the process.

If you have hundreds of dollars to waste, go ahead. However, do not forget that you are also wasting everybody's money when that 10 lbs package needs to be sent from USCIS to NVC and worse when it has to go through DHL to the destination country. If you have a vested interest in DHL, then I understand you. :innocent:
