Gardasil being voted on oct 21st.

I went to those links. One is just names. The other link just has an agenda. It says there will be some "dicussion", and "vote", but I don't see where it says what they're voting on? Voting on whether it will be mandatory in the U.S.? Voting on whether immigrants will require it? The link doesn't really say what the vote is for, and what impact it will have on people's visa journey.

Perhaps there is another link that outlines the issue more?

It's the "recommendations and vote" section that we're curious about. Basically, any vaccine that the CDC puts on their recommendations list becomes mandatory for those immigrating to the U.S. If they review this list and decide to pull Gardasil from it, it will no longer be a requirement.

Now, whether or not that becomes quickly passed along to the consulates, panel physicians, etc, is another story, I'm sure.

I think people who are hoping this will end the requirement should temper their excitement. Even if they do vote to take it off the reccommended list, it won't be immediately removed and you would still either have to get the shot, or attempt to get the requirement waived.

Heard about that. Gardasil in and of itself covers strains of the virus in boys as is, if I'm not mistaken.

Oh I agree, I don't see this as being a quick fix by any means.

But then, as Montreal wishes to take their time in scheduling us all, maybe that time will have some benefit. Who knows.

Its to late for me. I am scheduled to get the last shot on Monday. I can't afford to wait until the results of the vote are in, since I have my AOS interview a month from tomorrow. With that said, even if the vote strikes down the need for Gardisil I seriously doubt it will be removed from the list immediately and that will be the end. Also, lets consider the wealth and influence of the companies developing and administering this drug... we can't discount that. I will actually be surprised if they remove it from the list, I really will.

As much as I would like to see it get taken off before I do my medical (which I havn't booked yet, no point) I'm not counting on it too much.

It's not about getting it removed right away, because you're right, it won't be.

The point of my thread is to try and remove it from the list so the women have the choice to get it.

Take a look at the thread. Much heated debate about it.

Well take a look at the thread, we have a chance to voice our concerns at a time when they might hear us.

It will not be removed right away, but I would like to think I'm helping women in the future have a choice about putting an unknown

chemical mix into their bodies.
