Just because you can contract HPV and your immune system can flush it does NOT mean you are not at a higher risk for cervical cancer, which is the entire point to the vaccine. 4 strains (the most common) of HPV increase a woman's chance of getting cervical cancer.

I'm not getting the shot simply because my husband is the only man I've ever been with, it's not necessary for me (I am also a USC, not a requirement for me). However, if you want to come to our country, then you have to follow the guidelines set out by the government. That's just the way it is.

Rhi - it is a titer test.

Gardasil doesnt even fit the CDCs requirements for immigration vaccinations.

Incase anyone was wondering, the requirement is that it doesnt exist in america so you have to be vaccinated before you come, HPV is EVERYWHERE. Also required is that if its highly contagious then you have to be vaccinated for it, HPV is only contagious by skin-to-skin contact in sexual maners, you dont get HPV by breathing on someone or by holding their hand.

Also posted before, many women and men both are subjected to HPV atleast once in their life and dont even know they have been. This works out of their system and they become completely immune to it after having it once.

Is there a way to test for that?

If she has had it in the past I mean?

I know there's a blood test to test for immunizations and as to what vaccines you already have if you lost your records.

I think it's a titer test, but you may want to google it to double check.

Yes you can titer test for it, it can come back positive for HPV antibodies, which means you have been exposed to it. Im pretty sure most if not all women get regular pap tests anyways but this is another way to tell if you have hpv or have had it. Regular pap tests also help diagnose many other things that could be or go wrong.

hpv is also treatable, considering a form of it is herpies.

3% of people are BORN with HPV and have it all their life.

Theres actually 8 strains that are common to causing cervical cancer, gardasil only treats 4 of them. They only tested the vaccination on 12 year olds and 11 year olds. Less than 1200 subjects were tested.

The titer test would do that.

Yes she can have a " titer test " which is a blood test and she can request that they look specifically for HPV antibodys with this test. But there are 90 different subtypes of HPV. Sometimes tests screen for 4 or 5 of the most common types but will not be accurate to pick up all possible HPV infections

Ah ok. What about a smear test? Does that do anything?

Yes smear tests can test for changes in the cells of the cervix which can indicate HPV.

They also test for other things as well when they do smears which is why women get thos regularly to make sure everything is A-OK!

Women who get pap tests/ pap smear tests regularly are always checked for HPV.

Aluminum is in it as well.

Australian outcry over the effects of the drug.

http://www.medindia.net/news/Outcry-in-Aus...ine-30291-1.htm

You can have side-effects from anything. Some people have serious side effects to codeine or even Tylenol, so should they just stop using it?

Even a simple flu vaccine can give you side-effects. The question is, how many people do not get any side-effects. Furthermore, how many women's lives will it save.

thanks ill post that on facebook too

Ladies and Gentlemen!!

Please take a look at the names of the people who will decided whether or not you get an extremely untested and fairly new vaccine injected into the immigrant women of the world.

http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/acip/down...genda-oct09.pdf

and if that link doesn't work, try this....

http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/acip/meetings.htm

and click on MEETING AGENDA OCT 21.

The names of presenters are listed, and a vote is being cast.

I myself am going to personally call and if I cannot talk to them, I will leave messages about my objections to Gardasil being forced upon immigrants.

Here is the list of members on the board voting.

http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/acip/members.htm

I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU GET ON THE PHONE to your USC and have them call these people and lodge complaints. (If you are against this of course)

I will call every single one. Please people let's try to organize. If your willing to call, post your experiences here. We have one week.

any phone number available ?

You do have a choice, just as you have a choice to immigrate to this country or not. I'm not trying to be callous, but but the self-righteous indignation I see from so many people regarding a VACCINE, something created to help save people from a disease is a bit much. I don't think anyone sets out at the onset of marriage to have extra-marital sex..... it just happens. I'm not suggesting this is the case with you or anyone in particular, but I think it's naive to say that you don't plan on having sex with anyone else because we all don't, thats why we take the vows to begin with. Now i'm all in favor of people being able to choose what is appropriate for their body. My wife is against the vaccine for her own reasons and I completely support her on that. But lets stop the hysteria about this.

What's hysterical about trying to help my fiancee who does not want to take it?

I think its reasonable to try, don't you? Or are you just going to let your fiance take it and worry about the side effects the rest of her life?

If you don't like the hysteria, then why are you following it?

You can leave whenever you like.

You can apply for a waiver to circumvent the vaccination. It will add time to your process and not necissarily be approved, but there is an option. I have put this to my wife that I will do that if that is the avenue that she wishes to pursue.

You can stop the whining and get down off the soap box. You posted this in Off Topic. If you simply want people to aggree with you and pat you on the back, I suggest you find another forum to post this in.

Waiver costs 565$ and its only based on religious beliefs or moral convictions, if they dont grant the waiver then you are out 565$, while AOS costs 1010$ plus the vaccinations that cost 130$ each. Plus the cost of the visit to the doctor.

Many people do not have this option.

You do still have an option. You don't have to immigrate to the U.S.

Dude , do you think all immigrants immigrate to the states because they don t have a choice, what are you talking about,

i will happily stay at my home country as i have a really comfortable life, lots of immigrants are making lots of sacrifices to go and join their loved ones,

because as i believe it is really hard for americans to live in another country, either because of the langage or because of financial burden,

i already lived in the US and the only reason i am returning is for my fiance, i did all the vaccines necessary before, with the approval of my doctors,

but this one, is faar from the usual vaccines that everybody gets,

you re really out of subject, and if you want to discuss whether people have the choice or not, go start your own thread!

That is one part of the conditions to immigrate to the U.S. If you object to it, you have a couple of options. As I said, you can choose NOT to immigrate here, you can get the shot, or you can choose another country. That is three choices albeit unsavory choices, they are still choices.

This thread was posted in Off-Topic. If you dont' like people disagreeing with you, I suggest you find another forum to post in. Grow thicker skin, or GTFO.

ya dude you are the most insensitive piece of ###### i saw... you obviously don't give a damn about it and i really dont even understand what your doing on Visajourney... if you didn't care that your fiance get that shot then you don't like her /him.. this is really disgusting ...we don't all go to America because its better hell no.. id stay here if it wasn't for my fiance too ... so you instead of telling people to be a stupid sheep following the rest of the human stupidity you should STFU!!!

As you and Malrothien both mention, it is currently a requirement to immigrate to the U.S.

However, just because it is a requirement does not mean that it is right. These people are immigrants, they are not sheep (or guinea pigs as the case may be).

Well sorry I was unsure of where to post it and that my VJ user status is too noob for your excellency.

I posted in the beginning why I started the topic, so if you don't like it, then f off. Or be useful and tell me how to move it so my topic doesn't inconvenience you any longer.

So take off the @sshole hat for now, and tell me how to move the post. As for the options, we have already decided that America, land of the fee, might not be the best for us.

As you said, we do have a choice. I also have to choice to contact the board of directors at the CDC as well. Our mind is made up about the vaccine, but that will not stop me from expressing my concern.
