i don't see the sense in it being mandatory.

The canadian and american doctors I've met to get the gardisil shot thinks its unnecessary and its surprising to them that its mandatory for immigrating to US. I am 26 years old and my canadian doctor said it's pretty inconvenient for me to get it when my cut off age is less than 1 year and I've been married for 2 years. the vaccine is $150 USD plus whatever cost/fees just to have someone write me the vaccination record and give me the shot (here in the US). I am 1 more shot short and I oppose to the vaccine. I strongly believe it should not be forced upon us especially when the doctors i've been meeting do not really encourage it but surprised by the whole process. Its not really something I want to do when my doctor isnt even confident about it. I am definitely contacting one of the presenters.

Hm, interesting.

I'll be keeping an eye on this.

The main reason I don't want this vaccine is because it's being forced upon me.

I should have some sort of choice as to what vaccines I can get or not, especially something like this.

Why in the world would I need it, which is what gets me.

I've only had sex with one person, I'm STD free and I plan to only have sex with that one person.

And my fiance wouldn't cheat on me.

Thus the vaccine would be useless to me.

You do have a choice, just as you have a choice to immigrate to this country or not. I'm not trying to be callous, but but the self-righteous indignation I see from so many people regarding a VACCINE, something created to help save people from a disease is a bit much. I don't think anyone sets out at the onset of marriage to have extra-marital sex..... it just happens. I'm not suggesting this is the case with you or anyone in particular, but I think it's naive to say that you don't plan on having sex with anyone else because we all don't, thats why we take the vows to begin with. Now i'm all in favor of people being able to choose what is appropriate for their body. My wife is against the vaccine for her own reasons and I completely support her on that. But lets stop the hysteria about this.

What's hysterical about trying to help my fiancee who does not want to take it?

I think its reasonable to try, don't you? Or are you just going to let your fiance take it and worry about the side effects the rest of her life?

If you don't like the hysteria, then why are you following it?

You can leave whenever you like.

You can apply for a waiver to circumvent the vaccination. It will add time to your process and not necissarily be approved, but there is an option. I have put this to my wife that I will do that if that is the avenue that she wishes to pursue.

You can stop the whining and get down off the soap box. You posted this in Off Topic. If you simply want people to aggree with you and pat you on the back, I suggest you find another forum to post this in.

Excluding the why should I get it stance, what issues do you have with the vaccine?

Hundreds of thousands of Americans have already taken the vaccine with little to no issues.

let me tell you you are totally wrong, with no issues are you seriously ignoring all the controversy going on right now because of that vaccine??

they don t even have enough data on how the vaccine will work on population living in completely different environments,

and it does not matter if it s in developped or 3 rd world countries, more than half of population will contract HPV through sexual intercourse, but you know what, most of these are fought by the body immune system and go with litlle or no symptoms,

the most effective way to date are REGULAR SMEAR PAP TESTS,

36 death report with Gardasil, VAERS database now has 13,667 adverse events reports and you know how little they know about its long term effects,

yes for me too i am 26 years old and two of my doctors strongly warned me against it, i dont understand why is it ok for other vaccines if you have a medical reason, and why we can t argue about this one, how many people should be injured before they decide to take it off the market?

Waiver costs 565$ and its only based on religious beliefs or moral convictions, if they dont grant the waiver then you are out 565$, while AOS costs 1010$ plus the vaccinations that cost 130$ each. Plus the cost of the visit to the doctor.

Many people do not have this option.

Dude , do you think all immigrants immigrate to the states because they don t have a choice, what are you talking about,

i will happily stay at my home country as i have a really comfortable life, lots of immigrants are making lots of sacrifices to go and join their loved ones,

because as i believe it is really hard for americans to live in another country, either because of the langage or because of financial burden,

i already lived in the US and the only reason i am returning is for my fiance, i did all the vaccines necessary before, with the approval of my doctors,

but this one, is faar from the usual vaccines that everybody gets,

you re really out of subject, and if you want to discuss whether people have the choice or not, go start your own thread!

Gardasil doesnt even fit the CDCs requirements for immigration vaccinations.

Incase anyone was wondering, the requirement is that it doesnt exist in america so you have to be vaccinated before you come, HPV is EVERYWHERE. Also required is that if its highly contagious then you have to be vaccinated for it, HPV is only contagious by skin-to-skin contact in sexual maners, you dont get HPV by breathing on someone or by holding their hand.

Also posted before, many women and men both are subjected to HPV atleast once in their life and dont even know they have been. This works out of their system and they become completely immune to it after having it once.

Is there a way to test for that?

If she has had it in the past I mean?

I know there's a blood test to test for immunizations and as to what vaccines you already have if you lost your records.

I think it's a titer test, but you may want to google it to double check.
