Good to know. But if it's not from the same household, do you need to prove citizenship/residency? Any idea?

Actually, the Birth certificate, residency proof and letter explaining relationship should be sufficient... Being married, I would think that not too many people would have their parents as their beneficerary...

i dont agree. there are plenty of people on here who need to put a parent as a co sponsor. my husband lives with his parents as he is caring for his dad, who happens to be our co sponsor. and i will be living with them when i arrive til we find a full time carer for his dad.... other people, young married couples, much like us, would have to live with the USC's parents at some point im sure. i know of others doing it on here, so i dont think its as you say, that not too many people are doing it.... maybe they are just too embarrassed to mention it, as not everyone has money coming out their you know whats...

sorry, meant as benificerary on a life insurance policy... Most married folks would have their spouse as the benificerary on a life insurance policy... I was addressing a previous post that stated you send in a copy of a life insurance policy woth the parents as the benificerary... Sorry for the mixup

Hi VJers, I just saw this thread, and I am about to send the the AOS packet but I have a few questions based on our situation and this thread:

My wife (USC) and I will be using her father as a co-sponsor, but they do not reside at the same place. Hence he's filling out an I-864 not I-864A form.

Do we need to include proof of relationship if they are not in the same household? Would there be any problems if we did include my wife's birth certificate showing her father on it?

Thanks in advance...
