How do I establish the same residency? Do I need to send a mortgage statement or something? A copy of his driver's license? He owns the house; I just live in it.

A utility bill in both of your names would do nicely. Or maybe a magazine or some sort of mail addressed to you at that address

Oh a copy of YOUR drivers license and his as your mentioned earlier!

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

I was under the impression that you need a bank statement of some sort as well as a letter of employment. Maybe I was wrong. But it couldn't hurt to add these, I'm guessing?

If you meet 125%, then no need for bank docs. But if want send will be plus.

yes that will work the I-864a has to be notarized so with that and the mortgage statement & driver's license you should be fine

The I-864/I-864A does not need to be notarized, from the adjudicator's field manual:

Some editions of the Form I-864 and Form I-864A include a jurat to be completed by a notary or by a consular or immigration officer to show that the person signed or acknowledged the signing of the Form I-864 or I-864A under oath. The Form I-864 and Form I-864A, however, provide that they are signed “under penalty of perjury.” Thus, 28 USC 1746 (which deals with the legal effect of unsworn statements) makes it unnecessary for Form I-864 and Form I-864A to be signed in the presence of or certified by a notary public or an Immigration or Consular Officer. Note that the jurat has been removed from the January 15, 2006 edition of the Forms I-864 and I-864A. Form I-86EZ is a newer form, and therefore never had the jurat.

OMG, as i am reading this post i get more and more confused, my husband's interview didn't go as expected, They want a joint sponsor since i am unemployed ..

Well we found someone to do it, just that this person is my best friend for over a decade.

Now we were confused on what our joint sponsor needs to fill out... I-864 alone?

i heard the I864A is for people related to you, or that live in the same house.. (or if they are married)

i hope this is not an issue since this person is not a family member to me... and is not married.

What exactly do we need to send?

I am going out of my mind........ pls help!!!!!!!!

:(

Have them fill out an 864 (check the box for sponsor only) and submit their tax info, employment letter/pay stubs, and if they are using assets, then the bank/investment info... And proof that they are a USC (like copy passport or birth certificate)

Actually, the Birth certificate, residency proof and letter explaining relationship should be sufficient... Being married, I would think that not too many people would have their parents as their beneficerary... My husband is on mine... Not sure what the photos would do, they do not have photos showing what the father looks like, could be anyone???

Can you please scan and provide a link to the RFE papers that you received in the mail? You seem to be in good shape with your reply.

Many here have not seen what an RFE document looks like, and you can be of help to those concerned.

Of course, use a Sharpie to black out all identifying names and numbers.

Ok, I just got this straight from the NVC. We should put some note in Ling-Che's shortcuts or something, so it draws attention to this issue. The data I am providing below ONLY APPLIES TO THE I-864A, which means a joint sponsor IN THE SAME HOUSEHOLD.

Tax transcripts/tax returns are enough to prove residency. Since my father and I both have tax transcripts delivered to the same address, this is sufficient evidence for the NVC that my father and I inhabit the same household. (I will call again tomorrow morning to speak with a supervisor to confirm one more time, but since the tax transcripts are a federal document, it makes sense that it would suffice.)

To establish a parent-child relationship, you must submit the CHILD'S birth certificate. To establish a sibling relationship, you must submit BOTH petitioner and co-sponsor birth certificates. They actually couldn't give me guidance on originals vs. copies, so I'm just sending a certified copy and a photocopy, like I did with everything else.

The co-sponsor does NOT need to be a US citizen; they can be a permanent resident as well. They didn't mention anything about proving citizenship or residency, so I assumed the federal tax returns were enough? I should call to clarify about that.

Thanks for all the useful information. I am certain you need to prove residency of the co sponsor as well. So a BC or a passport should suffice for a USC and for a LPR, naturalization certificate copy.
