Yet I say again Finland - has a higher standard of living.

Do I need to list all the other countries that have more than double the amount of paid days.

What would that prove?

Lets take a look at what I said and how you responded.

Your approach that our differences are subtle doesnt work for me, Finland 39 paid days USA 10, a huge difference and then theres how we handle health care, do I need to say more.

Its funny how for the sake of this argument your all of a sudden acting like were the spitting image of Europe and not the red headed step child, fail. (that was for you AJ)

Yet I say again Finland - has a higher standard of living.

So what does it prove? I would say that what it proves is that you brought nothing to the debate about mentioning that Finland has a higher standard of living. Keep in mind we were talking about the differences and how they might affect ones mood.

You know Simpson, its entirely possible that we are talking about entirely different things and this is intentional.

You can prove fairly easily that many countries in Europe have a better standard of living than the US. There are international rankings for such things - US is ahead of the UK but behind Finland.

Happiness of course is not easy to quantify, given that its entirely qualitative.

So in a nutshell you think I was wrong and totally out of mind for thinking that Booyah would be happier in Finland because of his political views.

you're conservative??? that's LAUGHABLE. look at your comments. you toe the line with the leftest of the left. i don't even think you can see the center from there!!

and to back Simpson's statement, if my SO trashed my country as much as BY trashes his SO's country, that would be a deal breaker for me. regardless of the positives and negatives of this nation, it is my home. wherever i go, it will be a part of me, just as it is for BY's SO. to spit on it the way BY does is to disrespect the very person whom he's pledged to share his life with.

and don't come back with this "ohh, i loooove america; don't get me wrong; blah blah blah" your track record is clear.

Well not the American definition. The country seems to have its own 'unique' definition on everything. Doing so is as American as it gets. For example, labelling a sport that only Americans participate and play as being 'world series' etc.

Trashing? I thought yanks were supposed to be strong and tough, all about being first and the best. The irony is that the US is one of few industrialized nations that places such a huge emphasis on this winner takes all attitude. My my how this attitude changes the second you are beaten. Then it's a case of who cares to flat out denial and eventually hatred and even mocking the leader. Unlike you guys, we are not indoctrinated to love a country just because I was born there. A country has to give me a reason to love it, to promote it, to stand up for it and to cherish it. Something Australia has done.

Takes this thread for example, I have one broadband provider comcast in my area; whereas, I had over 30 in Melbourne. Or is pointing this out hating on America too? Thank God Dems are staring to wake up and see past the smoke screen. The Dems have at least acknowledged that others that are beating the US, as in better than you, at doing various things. Only fools refuse to learn from their competitors, not to mention insist that they are better. Like it or not, China is coming and using their Federalist Communist government to outdo the US. I cannot wait to hear the excuses once a country that has polar opposite views on the economy and government overtakes you. Oh wait, Repubs will just deny it.

You know what, at the end of the day it's Americans like yourself who will lose. Not Australians, nor Europeans or even Asians etc. As stated by another poster, the country will end up with a top 15%and most things will end up being developed and manufactured overseas. Repubs have already damaged the country with the undeviating pursuit of Reaganomics. An approach that will not work in this crisis.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Why would I move to Finland when I can just go back to AUS and enjoy their 5.7% unemployment rate, which just lowered. Or a $53K median salary per person. US is $50k median per household. Ranked second best country to live in by the UN. Oh wait I just remembered repubs hate the UN.

Or should I call the Jedi Master Rush and see what he thinks?

Frankly yes, and for suggesting that love should be dictated by a very narrow view of political ideology but as you patently don't even know the consequences of the statements you posted, I don't expect you to agree with my opinion ;)

Well if the question would of been where in the world would Booyah choose to live the answer would of been simple.

Suggesting that love should be dictated by a very narrow...puhleaze  I never said anything that would lead any reasonable minded person to come to that conclusion. I said if his love would of been from a country that he idolizes he would of probably been alot happier.

No this seems great compared to places like Finland. We want a majority of things handled by the individual and private sector and I believe that type of thinking is one of the things to be credited to the success of america. You should of married a woman from Europe because were a different breed over here and I dont every see you being happy living here. ;)

Oh dear, I think you did say what you thought he should have done and couched it in racial terms, thus proving what I said all along, to you happiness is synomonous with living under a very specific and unchanging political regime ;)

From what I see and read, I like Canada too. Beautiful country, great people, great attitude and beautiful towns and cities. Canadians and Aussies have learned a lot from each other. I certianly recognize their high standard of living. Furthermore, if I was your average Joe American, I would have migrate there yesterday.

You want a great example of attitude? even though they are doing better than you, plenty of people here still joke on them and rule them out. The joke is on you guys, certainly not them.

No matter how happy one is, one can always be happier.

Finland? Sounds cold to me. I'd rather be in the Islands.

You liked the sound of Canada the other day, and that sounds cold to me ;)

Canada sounded good (and still does) for practical reasons. In my dreams, I'd rather be on Grand Bahama Island.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
