We are preparing our documetns to bring to the interview and are wondering...

Do we need to bring a certified copy of our marriage certificate or is the original sufficient?

10/16/03 Moved to US on H1B (good for 3 years)

08/24/06 Second H1B (good for another 3 years)

07/01/07 Met husband

07/27/08 Engaged

03/14/09 Married- snowy, winter wedding in Vermont!

08/31/09 I-485, I-130, I-765 & I-131 received at lockbox in Chicago

09/04/09 Checks cashed and Notice issued

09/11/09 NOA's received for I-485, I-130, I-765 & I-131

09/14/09 Biometrics Appointment received (Appointment for 10/7/2009)

09/19/09 Complete Biometrics (Walk-in at Boston center)

10/05/09 Received Notice of Interview (Interview on 10/29/2009)

10/06/09 EAD approved

10/06/09 Advance Parole approved (documentation being sent out)

10/09/09 Second email sent from USCIS saying that the EAD card is being produced

10/13/09 Advance Parole documents received

10/14/09 Email from USCIS saying EAD has been sent out

10/16/09 EAD rec'd

10/29/09 INTERVIEW

10/29/09 GREENCARD APPROVED at Interview

10/30/09 Greencard sent out

11/09/09 GREENCARD ARRIVES in the mail!

I would take both, you never know what they are going to keep when you go. They had my husbands police report, but she took a copy of the one we brought with us ?!?!?!?!?! Didin't understand why, but I wouldn't risk loosing my Original Marriage Cert.

04/16/2009 Received pink notice of medical exam needed

04/17/2009 Had medical exam done by Civil Surgeon (have to return on Tuesday 04/21/2009 forResults)

04/24/2009 Papers delivered to Lees Summit (MSC) :o)

05/07/2009 Received email from CRIS that EAD card has been ordered & should arrive within 30 days

05/08/2009 Received email from CRIS that EAD Approval Notice was sent

05/09/2009 Received EAD card in mail YAAAAAY

05/12/2009 Applied for Social Security Card

05/15/2009 NOA received with I-485 interview date 07/20/2009

I submitted a certified copy when I mailed the package and when had the interview they asked for another certified copy, luckily I had a copy with me.

05/01/08 Green Card in mailbox!!

06/05/10 Real GREEN Card RECEIVED!

01/17/13 Sent application for US Citizenship!!!

01/19/13 Arrived to Arizona Lockbox

01/24/13 Notice of Action

01/25/13 Check cashed

01/28/13 NOA received by mail and biometrics letter mailed as per uscis.gov

02/14/13 Biometrics appointment

03/18/13 In-line for inteview

Here in VA they don't even give you the original marriage certificate. The Court House issues only certified copies-as many as you need-and they keep the original.

I would say the copy of the marriage certificate is enough. That's what I did for the interview and I had no problems, actually the IO didn't even ask me about it.

06-10-2017 - Received NOA letter from NBC dated 06-05-2017

06-16-2017 - Received Biometrics Appointment Letter for 06-28-2017

01-19-2018 - Interview Letter sent

02-27-18 - Interview and Oath Ceremony. Finally US CITIZEN!
