Chinese Whispers... is that like "telephone"?

My family is tiny... so we just eat and chit chat.... Louis has us playing dominoes though. Its fun because even Tierra can play.

Charades! My best friend has a large family and when ever she is up from DC on Holidays all the brothers, sisters, girlfriends and boyfriends, cousins... we all get together for game night.

Pictionary and that Brain one... cant remember the name... is fun with teams and EVERYONE is rolllling laughing.

Chinese Whispers... is that like "telephone"?

Exactly what it is.:)

DaDa, welcome back. :P

I think games are good for get-togethers, esp if not everyone knows each other. Just last night, Steven was NOT enjoying himself at my company's Dave & Buster's function, when we were just mingling. I don't enjoy mingling either. But once we started playing the games (they divided us into 4 groups & we competed), everyone was interacting and having a great time.

Monopoly Championship??? I had no idea that even existed.

Speaking of which I asked Steve if he wanted to go with me to the Xmas Party at work and he said he would have to think about it  Its cool either way cause I don't like going either. All we do is have a cocktail hour then a buffet style dinner at the Hilton Hotel. They talk about how the business is going.. give us a company gift and raffle off two tickets anywhere in the United States..BORING! lOL

Year before last, our company holiday party took place at 3 connected buildings downtown. The theme was "Passport to Adventure" and spread out were various stations with food, cultural displays, & music to represent some of the countries we do business in. Then downstairs was this big casino setup. We got unlimited chips to play all the casino games. I liked it because I got to play roulette & craps for the first time without losing any money. There were also several stations with different backgrounds where people could take pictures. That party was fantastic.

Then last year we had budget cuts, so the party was in one hotel with the theme "Tropical Paradise." It was NOT. The atmosphere more reminded us of "Retirement Home in Miami." I was like, how do you go from last year to this year??

This year, it looks like it'll be better than the tropical one, but not as good as the casino/passport one.

Oh, quit crying. Ours is in the same tired lunchroom we have every other meal in with the same damn people. At least there is alcohol to soften the "social" time. Worst part is I am in charge of food so I usually end up cooking my #### off the day before, using crock pots and the stove all that morning, and having to at the very least organize some sort of clean up effort. It's exhausting.

Afternoon Yardies!

Congrats MsTee on getting the plane ticket! I'm so excited for you!

Exactly my point. I for one believe that there will always be people that will like and buy their music/support them financially. And CLEARLY their careers will not be ruined. I'm not even gonna front and say that I still don't like the R, cuz I listen to his music on the radio but I have NOT financially supported him since all that stuff first came out because it's my way of holding him accountable for his actions. I don't even pay for the bootleg copy! It's nothing really to him, but something to me. My issue w/ Chris was that when all of this happened, he sought the counseling from his mama. And not saying that his mama couldn't provide him with the right counseling, but seriously, given the nature of the situation, I just feel like he should have gone to a professional. Now I don't know if he was court-ordered to undergo more formal counselling, so I can't speak on that. I'm just saying that in my opinion we can no longer separate the entertainer from their personal life because most of the times they can't and the two lifestyles are often intertwined. Is that necessarily fair? Nope. But I guarantee you that if I did something horrible in my professional life, and those in my community or at work found out about it, I would still be held accountable. So why shouldn't he/they?

Very well said Mrs. P!

Evening Yardies :star: just dropping by to say hello and to let you all know i am doing much better with the BP i am tired like a slave but other than that i'm doing better  keep me in your prayers :star:

Take good care of yourself MsSheka! Glad you're doing better though.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I just don't have an overwhelming desire to be pregnant.

I just want to applaud Nat and Ells for this sentiment. It is something in which I strongly believe. I have this convo with my friends and few agree with me. I think a lot of women go ahead and have children out of obligation or just because they can, and that just saddens me. I have had too many children come and go through my home as a foster parent and I have worked in a home with children who have NEVER called anyone Mommy or Daddy, or sat down with a family to have dinner, lunch, breakfast and it makes me sad and angry. I have a mother who did not want children but did out of obligation and then gave me to someone else and then to Boarding schools, etc. I want to plead with anyone who would listen PLEASE ONLY HAVE KIDS IF YOU WANT KIDS do not have kids for any other reason!

RANT OVER

 I agree wholeheartedly! Too many people bring kids in to this world who have no business doing so.

Oh Ok I think I'll make an appt. As long as I do it before we get married or is it before sending out the AOS I will be OK?? Thanks for following up on this.

Wrote you on FB about this.

Spoons is an absolute blast! That game can get wild but everyone is usually laughing their butts off once it gets going!

That sounds like a pain in the azz JG! Of course, being a state worker in a crappy department, we don't get ANY holiday party. Other departments organize things but not ours....we suck!

Our Christmas party was at a swanky country club in Silver Spring, MD. They had an ok DJ and good food and since there is a lot of youngish(lol) ppl at my job the music was up to date. I was miss dancing queen as usual. Im the only west Indian person at work so I was showing off some of my skills. Lol. I can dance all night long if you let me. I also won a gift cert. to Best Buy. I got this stupid job about 3 years ago when someone got a promotion. I get to "organize" monthly meeting lunches and then one big bash at Christmas....company-wide. I get to organize other lunches for other meetings at people's whims too. I should really try to suck at it so they give it to someone else.

It sounded kind of fun at first. Like a mini caterer. Then, it hits you.....one person is vegetarian.....one eats nothing but meat.....and everyone else likes to complain about something. One day I actually said at the monthly luncheon if anyone can do better, feel free to take this part of my job over. That was 2 years ago. I'm still doing it. Sigh.
