U too why are you leaving us??? :crying:

O.k. if all the oldie but goodies leave who will be around to help with the newbies??

Probably my hormones speaking but if I posted something negative...everyone would have responded. Not that we need a standing ovation but lasting 5 years is great in my opinion. These marriges could be very challenging.

It seems newbies are only worried about the visa not what happens after. They don't want advise from the vets. Getting the visa is the easy part. Back in the day, we would share the good, bad and the ugly. We fought, made up and kept it moving. Now people are afraid to share because of other people feelings. We all supported each other. It seems newbies only support other newbies. I have not been on here much lately but I try to support everyone.

Off my soapbox.

Amen, sister.

But, in defense, newbies think the visa is the challenging part cause they don't know better yet. It's all good. Be happy while you can and fight the challenges when you have to. No one wants their relationship not to work so they are on the love high. It's ok. We have all been there. I always hope no one has to go through the bad and ugly. But, if they do, they know the vets are here to say we've seen it all before and we've seen people survive it all. This is what they did............

Shemmy, I know how you feel. Having been through the good, the bad, and the downright nasty, I get discouraged on here sometimes. But, I keep my optimism. Not everyone is me. I still believe in love and LDRs that can work out. That's why I'm still here. Not that I would ever do it again; but I want to watch the happenings and congratulate people on their good fortune. I can't live in a world of negatives.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

BTW - I believe once you have a visa in hand...you are a vet IMO. One visa journey is not any better than another.

Shemmy I understand where you are coming from. "COME SEE ME AND COME LIVE WITH ME ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS"I know once G gets here there will be lots of ups and downs. He has to get use to me and my kids and we have to do the same. I have been on my own for so long I am set in my ways. I will have to adjust al itte and not be too picky. In every relationship there are ups and downs people just have to respect each other and try and work things out. I am glad I found VJ and my Yardie friends when I did. You guys helped me through the Visa process and I know when I need to Rant and Rave I can do it and you guys will help too. Some of the Yardies I speak to on the phone and have gotten close with so if there are things that I don't want to put on VJ and I need help with I can call them. Marriage is a work in progress....Shemmy Congrats on your 5 years

Oh yeah....tomorrow will be Damien's 5th year in the States . We will celebrate all weekend :devil:

Congrats Shem that is wonderful, did the years seem to fly by for you? for me it seems like I'm an old married lady LOL but of course a happy one :star:

 We "celebrate" everything...well at least acknowledge milestones. Marriage is hard enough when you weigh in adjusting from a long distance relationship to marriage, one adjusting to a new country, blending families, dealing with cultural and age differences, etc....makes it more challenging. It's not easy.

I know that's right Shem marriage is a challenge on all fronts but its worth it. (F)

yardies are pics really that important?

i'm starting to look through our evidence and we have cards and letters and envelopes and reciepts and phone records

but we don't have alot of pics together

are they really that important?

Girl I took a whole photo album of pics and evidence and he didn't ask to see anything at all only asked my Hubby questions. Take what you can, always better to be safe than sorry

Hey Shemmy,

Congrats on your 5 year anniversary! That is a milestone honestly. I am a Newbie and this site has been a tremendous support. I'm not on here as much as I should be but all of the people on the thread have given me some valuable advice and opinions. I'm sorry that some of the others have left the thread but anything that you bring to the thread is needed. You never know what your situation or experience can do for someone who like you said might not have any idea of what to do. Right now my focus is on getting him here and getting that Visa in hand but we've already faced a very difficult hurdle in our relationship early on. Sometimes we all need to come to a safe place and get some honest advice. Reconsider not visitng as much...I know I'm going to need some advice on how to make it last 5 plus years...and you would be a great person to ask!!!!
